July 18, 200619 yr Wheres the other 10%? :mischief2 :mischief The articles were from a couple of years ago and I don't remember the exact percentages but I remember they added up to 92% or 93% and the breakdown was about 40% / 40% / 10%. The remainder came from other places but didn't say where. I assume there are fans that come from counties such as Monroe, Martin and Collier bur the articles didn't mention them. The quote is right. It did come from a Marlins official. But at a time when they were trying to convince Miami to help them build a pond next to the OB or somewhere else in southern Dade. I believe it was also total attendance they were talking about. Which I have no idea how they come up with. I never have heard them ask for ID's or adresses when buying tix at the stadium. I've also seen quotes from Marlins officials around that time that had Dade at 40% and Broward and PBC combined at 40%. I don't buy that one either. Realistically i would think Broward and PBC combined numbers would far out number Dade. I'm not even sure how they figure season ticket holders right now. Do they take the partial packages and add them up for full season (for instance 2 40 voucher packages equals one season ticket package) or do they take any plan and consider that a season ticket?? Or do they... Regardless. I would like to see the numbers for each package and for each county. If for nothing else just to put this to rest. One would HOPE that Broward and Dade counties out number PBC because of the convenience it is for them to get to the games over us. But it also wouldn't surprise me if it were more evenly matched.
July 18, 200619 yr Then your store manager was my brother, DeepFriedFish! :-) It's a fabulously run store if I may say so! my Winn Dixie is better...but we don't get Girardi sightings. I don't know what I would do if a Marlin came in my store... While I have never seen a Marlin at a Publix, I did see Jeff Conine and Greg Colbrunn at Pete Rose Cafe. And I was the only one who recognized them. I went up and asked for an auto after they were done eating. After I got mine, there was a mob of people around them. They thanked me for waiting until they were done eating before they left. It was great. I've seen Marlins all over the place but only 1 at Publix. That was Andre Dawson at the Publix near Dadeland. He was right behind me in line and the bag boy seemed to know him.
July 19, 200619 yr Pavano lived in West Palm Beach from what i heard, because they were always repeating it. I never knew Olsen lived in WPB also though, thats awesome. I met Derrek Lee and Mike Lowell at my job in Delray when they get their eye exams during the spring training in 2003. I'm meeting Reggie Abercrombie this Friday, he's getting his eyes checked also. LOL Gonna have him autograph my Marlins baseball bat.

Used to see him and what's her name (her name escapes me right now) around town every now and then. There are alot of current and ex ball players here in PBC. For some reason this county attracts them. Big Cat, Tommy Hutton, Carter, Felipe Alou, Hank Aaron are some that I believe are still living here. Fingers used to but I'm not so sure any more. Piazza's folks have a home somewhere in Boca too. That's where he stayed during his short Marlins career and I believe he still stays there when he's in town to play.

I come from Collier but only about 10 times a year. I used to think there were not that many Fish fans on this side but I meet more and more all the time.
