Joe Girardi sighting

Featured Replies

i was at the cheesecake factory in boca on sunday night (after the 9-3 win) and i saw girardi there. i also saw his daughter-she was wearing a jersey that said girardi with the number 25, but i think it was a yankee's jersey  . joe must have a house in boca because its an hour away from miami.

i almost went there for dinner... darn, ha.

Scott Olsen lives in West Palm and Pavano lived in Wellington, I don't doubt he lives in Boca or around there...

wow how could they drive taht everyday man its already tough from boca which is practically in broward county

Just about everyone I've talked to in the Marlins, save for a few guys, live in Palm Beach county.

The security guards and ushers in my section (150) are in Delray, the public address announcer is in Wellington, Loria lives on the island, Tommy Hutton lives in Palm Beach Gardens...and a bunch of fans come from there.

It's not terrible though, for me, it's no worse than 45 minutes exit to exit once on the turnpike, getting out to the turnpike's usually a bitch though.

As season ticket holders we drive it all the time and we live in central PBC. From our house it takes us about as long to get to the PBC/Broward line (Boca basically) on the turnpike as it does to the stadium from that point. With little traffic (Sunday and Saturday night games mostly) we can make it in about an hour one way. It's just something you get used to. SunPass helps alot. It's also why I get real touchy when I hear people from Dade and Broward counties complaining it is too far to go to a game from where they live.

Girardi actually lives in Broward County - he lives over here in Parkland - he shops at my Publix (Parkland/Heron Bay store)

I agree with you, it is a drive for palm beach county folks, but it is worth it. One of the reasons I wished they could put a stadium even closer to palm beach. More season ticket holders up here then anywhere else I was told before :) . But really it is worth the drive anyways.

Fishfan79, I don't know who told you what but a couple of years ago the fan breakdown by county was widely reported by the media and it was about 40% Miami-Dade, 40% Broward and 10% Palm Beach. The original article with the breakdown was a NY Times article that quoted a Marlins Marketing VP.

wow how could they drive taht everyday man its already tough from boca which is practically in broward county

Boca to Dolphin Stadium is no more than 35min

my best there is 23, coming back is 18 :o

Wheres the other 10%? :mischief2 :mischief

The articles were from a couple of years ago and I don't remember the exact percentages but I remember they added up to 92% or 93% and the breakdown was about 40% / 40% / 10%. The remainder came from other places but didn't say where.

I assume there are fans that come from counties such as Monroe, Martin and Collier bur the articles didn't mention them.

Boca is not far at all. Get on the turnpike at Glades road, stay on there about about for 20 minutes and you're right there at PPS. You guys who say it takes 35 minutes, you must be going like 45mph or something :lol .

Woah. I used to live not even 5 minutes from Parkland. Been there many times. Used to go to that Publix twice a week.

Then your store manager was my brother, DeepFriedFish! :-)

It's a fabulously run store if I may say so!

my Winn Dixie is better...but we don't get Girardi sightings. I don't know what I would do if a Marlin came in my store...

While I have never seen a Marlin at a Publix, I did see Jeff Conine and Greg Colbrunn at Pete Rose Cafe. And I was the only one who recognized them.

I went up and asked for an auto after they were done eating. After I got mine, there was a mob of people around them. They thanked me for waiting until they were done eating before they left. It was great.
