August 18, 200620 yr Cape, you're full of crap. There's a joke that goes around high schools around this state and it goes: Q: What do FSU and UF students have in common? A: They both got into FSU. UF is unquestionably the better school. UF is the #16 rated public institution in the nation. I'm pretty sure that FSU is in the 40s or 50s. It's not at all about football. I was born and raised a hardcore FSU fan and I went to UF. You chose FSU because of their meteorology program, more power to you, but to call them equal is just insane. FSU has a chiropractor school and a circus. UF has a legitimate medical school and the best law school in the state. Not to say FSU is a bad school, which it isn't, it's just not as good as UF. Also, UF has a much nicer campus IMO. Tallahassee is way too urban and dirty IMO. I think UF is too 'open', and while that is in the mold of a traditional university campus, I just don't like it. I like being able to make it across campus from one class to the other without having to rely on transportation. And the 'closeness' is probably what makes FSU a more notorious party school. Anyway, UF is definitely a better school overall. Obviously there are some departments that FSU has the advantage (Meteorology being the most notable IMO...Business school is pretty tip top as well). Regardless, if you plan to live in South Florida (I can't vouche for central or northern), going to either UF or FSU will be judged in just about the same way. From what I've learned through speaking with top execs and officials of some companies/firms, that much is true.

Never met a judge who went to UF...met plenty who went to FSU, even FIU.
August 18, 200620 yr What kind of statement is that? I'm not saying one school is better than the other but just because you've never met any lawyers or judges that went to UF they don't exist?

August 18, 200620 yr Actually, believe it or not (I didn't, and still really don't) FSU is the highest rated law school in the state of Florida. All of the "big 3" (FSU, UF, UM) are average or below, but FSU is tops in state. Go figure. And this is coming from an NYU guy who was a UM fan in high-school so I have no allegiance whatsoever.

Not really. US News and World 2007: UF - 41 FSU - 53 Law School 100: UF - 41 FSU - 75 But whatever, I'm not in law school so I don't care. I'm tired of the whole which school is better argument because a) it's not really close btwn UF and FSU - I looked at the latest USN&W rankings magazine and UF is like 47 and FSU is 110 and b) as long as you go to college I respect you. No matter where it is. It seems that all of these arguments just involve people speaking out of their asses. UF is a top 20 public college in the US...it's not a Harvard of the South or anything like Vandy or Duke...but it's a solid educational institution and easily the best in the state.
