August 16, 200620 yr Yes and no.....Cox Cable carries FSN and Sun Sports...but they don't have a deal to carry all 150 games...so they only carry 95 FSN Marlins games. In short...you should be able to watch most FSN games.
August 16, 200620 yr I get quite a few Marlins games with FSN Florida...there is also a "Cox Sports Television" that will play the other Florida team if they are both playing. BTW, if you're looking to go to college there (for reasons other than watching the Marlins), you should. No doubt.
August 16, 200620 yr Holly, don't base your college decision on whether or not you get to watch the Marlins. That said, a good majority of the Marlins games are on TV on campus at UF.
August 16, 200620 yr Whenever the game's supposed to be on Sun Sports, they show old fishing shows or darts or poker or something. All the games on FSN are available, however. I haven't lived on campus for a while but I'm pretty sure it gets FSN.
August 16, 200620 yr FSU is another fine place to go to school. But I thought you were going to FAU...transfer?
August 17, 200620 yr Umm.. Does FSU get the Marlins :shifty ? YES M'AM! http://fsnflorida.blogspot.com/2006/06/fsn...cast-cable.html
August 17, 200620 yr I wouldn't base college decision based on watching the Marlins since Florida is ranked 50 while FSU is somewhere like 119th in the nation. The campus should get FSN, I don't though because I'm out here in my apartment with 21 channels.
August 17, 200620 yr for hte love of God dont choose a school based on being able to watch the marlins.
August 17, 200620 yr Umm.. Does FSU get the Marlins :shifty ? Both probably get the Marlins and Devil Rays. However, I would imagine in northern Florida, that when the Marlins and DRays are both playing at the same time, the DRays are priortiy #1. But I could be wrong. I'm also deciding on college at the moment. FAU and FIU are closest to home but, since seventh grade, I've wanted to go to UF. Not that I'm a moron, but does anyone know how difficult it is to get into UF? I've heard it's damn easy to get into FIU and FAU. I'd take much more pride in going to a school where I know there are brains around.

August 17, 200620 yr Author Some of you kiddies should definitely be looking up north. A change of scenery and if you are worried about the money, scholarships and financial aid are your friends. I have a scholarship for only Florida Schools so I have to stay in Florida. If I didnt I would probably go to N. Carolina.
August 17, 200620 yr Some of you kiddies should definitely be looking up north. A change of scenery and if you are worried about the money, scholarships and financial aid are your friends. After living in San Diego for 10 years, I've had my change of scenery. And it sucked.
August 17, 200620 yr Some of you kiddies should definitely be looking up north. A change of scenery and if you are worried about the money, scholarships and financial aid are your friends. I don't think any scholarship you can get to an out-of-state school is nearly as good as what a Florida resident can get with a Bright Futures scholarship. My tuition is free, and combined with the Florida Prepaid Plan I get around $1200 deposited directly into my account every semester. That's why many people here stay in state. Plus, if you grew up in South Florida, the scenery at UF or FSU is completely different.
August 17, 200620 yr Some of you kiddies should definitely be looking up north. A change of scenery and if you are worried about the money, scholarships and financial aid are your friends. UF and FSU are the two cheapest schools for instate students in the country and UF is really becoming a great school. It makes no since to go north unless you are really frickin rich.
August 17, 200620 yr Well, personally I need all the money I receive from the state. It's what has allowed me to go through three years of college without having to get a job, and I don't have to ever pay back a loan. Also there is the proximity to home-- don't have to book a flight or prepare in advance in case of an emergency or a holiday. And I couldn't stand going to a school that doesn't have a huge sports program. And of course I don't have to ever worry about snow or any temperatures below 30 or 40 degrees. And it's not like I'm getting a bad education. Those are my reasons for staying. Yeah I agree that Gainesville or Tallahassee don't compare to northerneastern cities but North Florida is a stark contrast to South Florida, so it's good enough for me. To each his own I guess
August 17, 200620 yr Too many of my friends from high school just 'settled' on in state schools because they were familiar with them instead of looking outside the box. My situation was different but I'm incredibly happy I chose to go to school out of state. Alot of people never think of what else is out there, don't get their first choice and just go down the ladder of in state schools. Obviously this isn't true for everyone and for alot of people staying in state makes sense for academic and monetary reasons.
August 17, 200620 yr The Devil Rays and Marlins will never conflict on FSN. The Fish can always be put on Sun Sports and the Rays can be placed on WXPX/Rays TV in the event of a conflict. The only time it happened this year, Sun Sports aired the Rays and FSN had the Marlins until the Fish ended and then FSN joined Sun Sports to show the Rays. As for the FSU vs. UF debate....visit the schools and see what you like and don't like. I did and that is why my address is in Tallahassee. Obviously this isn't true for everyone and for alot of people staying in state makes sense for academic and monetary reasons. Florida's State Schools tend to be excellent. From my local FGCU to my choice FSU. The UF vs. FSU debate is basically about football...both schools rarely duplicate their specialties. You can get an MBA or JD from either.....but we all know the FSU JD and UF MBA are gold while the other school's equivalent is just as good but not as well known or respected because they both have to feed into their systems from the same Florida School System.
August 17, 200620 yr Cape, you're full of crap. There's a joke that goes around high schools around this state and it goes: Q: What do FSU and UF students have in common? A: They both got into FSU. UF is unquestionably the better school. UF is the #16 rated public institution in the nation. I'm pretty sure that FSU is in the 40s or 50s. It's not at all about football. I was born and raised a hardcore FSU fan and I went to UF. You chose FSU because of their meteorology program, more power to you, but to call them equal is just insane. FSU has a chiropractor school and a circus. UF has a legitimate medical school and the best law school in the state. Not to say FSU is a bad school, which it isn't, it's just not as good as UF. Also, UF has a much nicer campus IMO. Tallahassee is way too urban and dirty IMO.
