Marlins in market for a center fielder

I want JP! I want JP!

I thought you wanted to win the Wild Card?

:plain

we've been playing with a crappier equivalent in Alfredo Amezaga out in CF, how would this hurt the team?

then again, you probably believe the Fish still dont have a shot at this thing

I would rather have Amezaga in CF than Pierre (I think he's the better player all things considered). And you know if the Marlins got Pierre, Girardi would probably hit him leadoff which would cripple this team.

HAHAHAHA Amezaga over Pierre??

Here's the way I see things:

I like many of the players mentioned in this thread (Michaels, Payton) but I don't think that the current CF situation is THAT bad (how much of an upgrade would Michaels actually be over Ross, Hermida, or Amezaga?).

Now while I think that still might be worth bringing in someone else, the biggest hole on the team right now that could potentially kill the Marlins down the stretch is the BULLPEN. The only reliever I have ANY confidence in right now is Tank (I'm not a Borowski fan).

So while time is running out I think the Marlins should be concentrating their efforts elsewhere.

I agree.. it would be nice to beefen up the pen.

I'm still not up to snuff on how the whole waiver thing works but a guy that jumps to mind is Salomon Torres from Pittsburgh. A free agent to be.

also, as situational lefties go, Ray King from Colorado might be ok as he is pretty far down on the chain of lefties in colorado. The guy is nothing great, but an extra lefty wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.
