October 2, 200323 yr Depending on how long Redman goes in Game 3, Pavano should start. One he has both wins against the Giants this year. Two Giants EAT UP lefies "BIGTIME!!" Please start Pavano :marlins
October 2, 200323 yr well i think they are already starting willis on that game right?? can they change it?
October 2, 200323 yr well i think they are already starting willis on that game right?? can they change it? well its suppose to be a 4 man rotation but yeah it could be changed, i dont think he will though
October 2, 200323 yr It's an interesting idea, especially since Dontrelle in your scenario would be available in the pen. For that matter, I wouldn't put it past Jack to bring in Beckett for an out in the ninth if it meant winning Saturday. Perhaps we'll know more after we see how the Giants do against Redman Friday. Today was a nice little warmup for Dontrelle. He has a better idea now of what it means to pitch in the playoffs. Jack had him pitching to Barry, which was fascinating and the kid did okay. From my perspective Jack is handling Willis as perfectly as anyone could. Pavs could conceivably get the nod Saturday. Something to consider.
October 2, 200323 yr well its suppose to be a 4 man rotation but yeah it could be changed, i dont think he will though oh ok somtimes i forget a few of the playoff rules... its been a while lol. i never root for any other baseball team so i havent really watched playoffs in the past few years
October 2, 200323 yr well its suppose to be a 4 man rotation but yeah it could be changed, i dont think he will though They can pitch mike redmond instead of mark redman on Friday if they want. there's no playoff rule that says you have to preannounce who's pitching. Ponson was not named (officially) until hours before today's game.

October 2, 200323 yr You know that's not a bad idea, you would have Willis available for Friday, and Saturday's game out of the pen and depending on how much work he gets out of the pen could start game 1 or 2 of the NLCS if we get there.

October 2, 200323 yr Man, it would really be great to win in four and let our guys possibly get an extra day's rest. Jack's reputation is that he's not afraid to use the arms he's got whenever he needs them. Let's see how far we can go his way. If we win Friday nothing will be off-limits on Saturday. Go Fish!

Go Fish! well i think the best part about winning on friday and saturday is the fact that the last game would be here and we get to celebrate. i might go to a watch party if there is a game 5 just so i can be in the party atmosphere if we win.
October 2, 200323 yr I think you have to start Tren D. He steps it up under pressure and at home. The combination of the two? Equals Marlins in four.
October 2, 200323 yr Author The other reason I prefer Pavano is he's 2-0 against the Giants. Plus in my opinion the most dangerous hitter, other then the man on first(Bonds) , in that Giant line-up is Alfonzo..WHY? he's the one guy with Benito, who hasn't done much, could kill us with us walking Bonds ever at bat. Alfonzo against Pavano is batting .211 lifetime. Also do you want to put Willis into an elimination game?probable against Schmidt if the Fish win Fridayor the season if the Fish lose....yes/no? I'd go with Pavano
October 2, 200323 yr Leave Pavs in the pen. He is the one we can bring in for the lefty matchup (i.e. Bonds)
October 2, 200323 yr Author WRONG! Lefties are hitting higher against Pavano(.270), while lefties against Willis are batting .210 PUT PAVS IN AS YOUR GAME 4# STARTER JACK!!!!!
October 2, 200323 yr Pavs has handled Bonds very well, but starting him is not needed. Let Willis do it, he is the #4 starter and Pavs is #5. I guess we will agree to disagree on this Ed.
October 2, 200323 yr Author I agree CapeFish will just have to disagree, but its not about him being number 4 and him being number 5. Its all about match-ups and Carl match-up well against SF. We're 18 innings away from the NLCS come on bring it home
October 2, 200323 yr Yes, but if Willis can go through 5 and keep us in the game, then we have Pavs for the tough bullpen situation instead of having to use Willis. Willis does better the longer he pitches while Pavano does beeter out of the pen. Either way, we will be in good hands.
October 2, 200323 yr Author That's why Helling is there to clean up and he also pitches better at the Pro.
October 2, 200323 yr Pavano is good, but I remember the 14-0 game in Philly, and the 25-8 game in Boston. Tren D can give us 5 or 6 innings.
