October 3, 200619 yr To anyone watching this right now, like Girardi or not, how can you not look at this scene and just go "God, we really look pathetic." This scene is almost surreal. Who f***ing cares? No one remembers this or even cares when we are in the playoffs next year. The Marlins have looked pathetic a countless number of times. Not like it really matters. All I care about is the on field product. Organization may be a joke, but if this team wins. I could care less.
October 3, 200619 yr lol, Beinfest is losing it. good....i'd look pretty foolish too firing manager of the year potentially....And if Girardi was such a hardass and so terrible to work with, how come we didn't hear about this stuff until the end of the season and how come the manager's decisions weren't used.... As Beinfest said: "Winning masks a lot of things." What do you want him to say??? Of course he'd spin it so he doesn't look foolish....And someone tell me why was Girardi hired if he's such a bad manager??? Who gets the crap for hiring a good manager who can't stay more then a year. He was hired because he had a reputation of being a brilliant guy, that and Loria wanted him. So if you want to blame someone for him being hired in the first place blame Loria.
October 3, 200619 yr Poor Freddi "I was up at 3 AM making lineups." Too bad, Girardi tried doing that too..."Beckett, Cabrera, Willis...Beckett Cabrera Willis." I dont think we missed Josh too much this year
October 3, 200619 yr WOW! Great question!!! "Why did you choose Joe over Fredi last season..." :lol GOT EM'!
October 3, 200619 yr well he already has more charisma and personality than Joe he looks like a regular humble guy, feels like a guy you can have a beer with Maybe he should run for President then. :lol I know exactly what you mean :lol
October 3, 200619 yr Tell me how he can't afford this team. Because he's not willing to lose money? Where were you 2003-2005? He has lost millions of dollars the last few years to keep a competitive product on the field. Don't bring Montreal up because that was already a sinking ship...waaaaaaaaaay before he bought the majority of the team. He was one of the few that tried to save that team. Is he cheap because he can't build a stadium? Guess what MLB or any of the other league isn't in the business of totally financing stadiums, They're in the business of having the taxpayer build it for them. He's already chipped in $212 million in future revenues to build a stadium. Girardi and his enormous ego came in and thought he was bigger than those above him and he paid for it with his job. UPDATE Girardi on NBC 6. Meeting last 5 minutes and Loria was not present at the meeting. Just Samson and Beinfest. The last stadium opened, in St Louis, was 90% financed by the team. If you are dumb enough to take on a stadium deal with "future" revenues and not get the money up front, then I have a brigde in Brooklyn to sell you. What happens when those "future" revenues don't live up to what is promised ? Who then has to pay ? What politician is gonna risk that ? The taxpayers would be mightly angry at any tax increase to pay for a stadium many of them can never afford to attend. So Fla market is not like any other market, and to treat it as such is wrong. Plain and simple the stadium will not get built unless its the owner that pays for the majority of it. Loria doesn't have that kind of wealth. What still P.O's me was his willingness to take on partners in San Antonio if they moved there, but steafastly refuses any partners here in So Fla. That shows to me he's not really that serious about staying in So Fla. Anyone else have thoughts about that ? And 90% of that in yearly increments. So too would the Marlins have paid in year increments. Something called rent. That would have allowed the city to OWN nearly all of the stadium and continue to charge rent. Not so in St. Louis. Nevermind that in the majority of the 20-some stadiums built between the Sky Dome and the new Busch, that they were financed by cities or states and the teams paid just rent. When it comes to hosting MLB teams, there's no such thing as a free lunch. Even San Francisco and New York are paying incredible amounts in infrastrucutre and land transfers. Loria is a f***wad. A cheap one at that. So Jeffrey Loria is a f***wad because he did what was best for the organization? As far as I'm concerned Girardi brought this upon himself. Why? A) Terrible in game management B) Clashing with the FO and one of the best GMs in baseball, especially when the FO didn't want him in the first place C) Publicly cursing out his only supporter in the Front Office (Loria) Come on I know it's fun to bash Loria but lets us think for a minute and consider what happened. This firing is not solely based on an owner v. manager feud rather a Front Office v. manager feud. To bad The Herald likes spinning the story for their cause. He is a cheap f***wad b/c: A) He owns a baseball team he cannot afford B) He let's his huge ego get in the way of on and off field things I don't bash Loria for fun. I bash Loria b/c of his inability to own a baseball team without running it into the ground. You tell me why it was so important for the "inside source" to leak information right in the middle of our playoff run about Girardi not being here at the end of the season. Was it necessary? No it wasn't. Was it Loria throwing his huge fat ego around Dolphin Stadium? Yes it was. It's a shame that Loria felt it was necessary to overshadow our season with his off field antics. The man has no class and feels he deserves to be sitting on a pedestal, which he shouldn't. His refusal to get assistance in ownership financially also shows he doesn't care about keeping the Marlins in South Florida, he is only concerened with his own personal agenda. I applaud his love of baseball, it's just too bad he let's that get in the way of his crappy business practices. It's not a pack of baseball cards he owns, it's a multimillion dollar company. Don't come to me like I am hating on Loria to join the masses. I truely do not like his business practices. One can argue this decision was or was not best for the organization. I disagree. It's funny b/c I thought last year the hiring of Girardi was what was best for the organzation. What does any of that have to do with Girardi? Seems like you're bashing Loria just for the hell of it. Otherwise you would have put this in a thread where it might have been appropriate. Well it has alot to do with Girardi. I'm bashing Loria for the reason Girardi was fired. Seems a valid reason to post in this thread and highly appropriate. I do not have a hard on for the FO like most on this board. Just my opinion. What does Loria's financial worth have to do with anything? What gives you the impression that Loria's ego was what caused Girardi to be fired? Why don't you tell me what the reasons were bro since it seems you work in the FO. I AM SPECULATING. I am allowed to do so. I am not a fan of Loria. I am sorry if that upsets you. No need for the FO to tell us. It's been widely reported that Beinfest and Girardi did not get along.
October 3, 200619 yr Ooooooooooooooooooooooh my. The million dollar question. What makes Gonzalez more qualified now? Beinfest looked stunned for a second there.
October 3, 200619 yr Why should Girardi fall on the sword then when it's Loria's fault??? What kind of organization doesn't consult everyone before hiring?!
October 3, 200619 yr Poor Freddi "I was up at 3 AM making lineups." Too bad, Girardi tried doing that too..."Beckett, Cabrera, Willis...Beckett Cabrera Willis." I dont think we missed Josh too much this year Come on, you know that Beckett wasn't my point, but rather the habit of ripping the carpet out from under.
October 3, 200619 yr LOL a reporters just used the word surreal, maybe it isn't so dramatic. :thumbup That was my man Dan LeBatard. I listen to his show everyday and I couldnt discern his voice. He isn't a big fan of Girardi and is very chummy with the FO, suprised you like him.

You don't have to agree with someone to like them, or respect them. does anyone have an online link to this thing nevermind found it It's on FLAmarlins.com
October 3, 200619 yr Grades so Far, during the press conference: Beinfest - D+ Loria - Absent Samson - Absent Hill - Not performing Fredi - A+
October 3, 200619 yr Why should Girardi fall on the sword then when it's Loria's fault??? What kind of organization doesn't consult everyone before hiring?! Because Girardi doesn't own the team. :thumbup Must you use so many ???s you sound so paranoid.
October 3, 200619 yr There are some candidates within our system for the staff and candidates outside of the system: read: Wiley or Rosey.
October 3, 200619 yr "Fredi, are you confident that Miguel and Dontrelle will be part of the team next year?" "Yes"
October 3, 200619 yr Grades so Far, during the press conference: Beinfest - D+ Loria - Absent Samson - Absent Hill - Not performing Fredi - A+ Can't really fault Beinfest, seems like Loria and Samson kinda left him out to dry on this one.
October 3, 200619 yr OOOOOOOOOOOOOOH FREDDI! "Are you confident that Dontrelle and Miguel will be part of the team next season?" Yes.
