Anyone else really like the Gears of War commercial?

Featured Replies

I love it also, I have it reserved at EB but they said it'll come in Wednesday.

I even downloaded that song, it's great.

I'm picking mine up on my lunch hour tomorrow and will geek over the manual/box for the next three hours before I can go home and play it.

Yes, that's the song from Donnie Darko. And the commercial is very well done.

I think that's the song they play at the end of Donnie Darko...and I despise that movie.

You would.

Probably haven't even seen it and think it's a horror flick.

1, I hate that song. I mute it when it comes on.

2, Donnie Darko wasn't good. For some reason it has this cult following like "Requiem For A Dream" even though they both are just average movies.

3, Please don't get on my ass because of my personal opinion, it's annoying when people do.

Explain to me just what was average about that film?

That song (Mad World) was originally written and recorded by none other than Tears For Fears in the early 1980's. It was from their debut album entitled, "The Hurting".

Great song. The original is more uptempo but the cover version used in the commercial is cool as well.

Yeah, I'm not a huge fan of the original. One of the songs where I think the cover was better than the original. We used to have a thread on that, actually.

Well you probably dont like the production on the original which is understandable. But the vocal melody that Orzabal and Smith wrote on "Mad World" is classic Tears For Fears.

Tears For Fears actually wrote some releatively edgy songs in their day (contary to popular belief). "Pale Shelter" was another good track from their debut. Orzabal is actually a very good guitar player and he showed so on the album "Elemental" during the 90's. I recommend that album to rock fans who dont like Tears For Fears because they think of them as the synth poppers with turtlenecks singing from the tops of mountains.

Looks like reviewers are saying it's great, I won't get it till tomorrow but i'm looking forward to playing it:

I got it today. It's pretty good so far.

That being said, I can't WAIT for online. No more 20 kills, 14 deaths deathmatch winners, which will be nice. Also, I think for the average player that this game will be waaaaay too much duck and cover. I think it's good, but your average online player just wants to run and kill and get killed, then run and kill some more. This game doesn't allow for that and if you're not ducking and covering, you're screwed.

The commercial was really well done. I can't wait to pick this one up until Zelda and the Wii launches in two weeks :cool

After playing about 3 hours online I can honestly say it's the best online experience I've had. It's not easy, either.

The single player game where you can get a buddy to help you is also an awesome feature. But, the deathmatches where you get teams rules. I REALLY like the fact that you only get one life. It adds an added dimension.

I think, graphically, it's the best game I've seen on 360 so far. Also, the regular game and the cutscenes are SEAMLESS. They both look great and there's little to no difference between the two.

Great impressions man, thanks for posting, looking forward to picking it up tomorrow.

It adds an added dimension.

Sorry.

I'm mentally retarded after playing for three hours and having to work at 6 am. Good find, though. :confused

Also, if you DO a two player game, when one of you dies, the other can come up and revive you. Definitely adds to it, as I find ways to be/get killed regularly.

That song is absoloutly awesome. The game looks great, too. If I only had a 360. :confused

As did I. The TFF version is also pretty good. More uptempo like The Don said. Awesome song.
