April 12, 200719 yr Author I'm confused. Does "rendered" mean that it was used or not used? It doesn't necessarily mean animals along the highway. It basically means using discarding materials for industrial purposes. Discarded chicken meal is "rendered" into dog food even though it wasn't hit by a car. Look at it this way, animal protein often doesn't go to waste, whether it's pets, wild animals, or farm animals. It depends on where the company receives its protein. ok. thanks.

April 12, 200719 yr The chicken meal in that Blue Buffalo is the only thing I would consider questionable. Even then it probably isn't that bad. If I knew I could actually follow through with it I would be on an organic diet. It is a much healthier lifestyle and proportionately adds years to your life. The trouble is that it's incredibly hard to do and is very expensive. If you click on the link it tells you about the ingredient. Chicken Meal Chicken meal is a highly digestible protein source produced by cooking chicken at high temperatures, extracting the fat and drying the meat residue. It is a meat protein, providing essential amino acids and fatty acids, vitamins, and minerals for muscle development and energy. It is naturally stabilized with mixed tocopherols and rosemary to preserve freshness. It doesnt seem too horrible.
April 12, 200719 yr Author now I see why my friend feeds his dog 2 cans of green beans a day, nothing else. His dog was also a golden retriever with weight issues. His dog is slim now. and my dad did happen to big up a jumbo pack of 48 cans of green beans at costco. so..
April 12, 200719 yr i have actually heard that pedigree is actually not the best stuff you can buy, not by a long shot. the blue buffalo food sounds good. never seen it in these parts. actually i guess i have seen it, the packages just say blue on it these days. :lol we used to use science diet all the time. Dogs started to not do so well on it for whatever odd reason. Switched to Eukanuba, has been fine. Basically if you go with a top of the line dog food, your dog will be fine. You go with a cheap off brand, then you take your chances. And personally I hate all wet dog food.

April 13, 200719 yr Author And personally I hate all wet dog food. same here. The wet stuff is for cats only (in my opinion). and the stuff smells really bad, too.
