I really don't mind Staats and Magraine all that much. It seems that everyone on this board HATES any broadcast crew that isnt the Marlins crew, picking out all their errors and the like. I still can't stand Rich Waltz and his many ridiculous mistakes per game cause me to mute the games quite often. Ill be at the Saturday game anyway though.

I agree. Personally I would rather watch the games with the other team's announcers as they present an honest assessment of our players and team.

The DRay crew doesn't seem to work together that much. Seems like they're both doing their own thing the whole game, and they usually completley ignore the Aflac trivia question.

 

At least Rich and Tommy seem to like each other when they're broadcasting.

I do too....when my television is muted and their words appear on the closed captioning.

Or mute the TV and listen in on the radio. You have your choice of 560 WQAM or 1140 WQBA.

I quite agree with most on this thread. The Rays announcers are coma inducing ! :blink:

Rich is a nerd, but he's an okay nerd.....I like his calls. When he yells "Ballgame" I like it.

I don't doubt that he thinks Rich is a little bit of an idiot at times, but the two seem to have a genuine chemistry on the air together and their personalities complement each other. If nothing else, the two share a similar sense of humor and that makes then enjoyable to listen to. I know I am biased but Rich and Tommy are my favorite broadcast crew I've ever listened to because of the color they bring to the air.

It seems like whenever they give Tommy a new partner, everyone seems to have the same feeling.

 

But by the time the new partner leaves.....it all seems fine.

 

When they hired Tommy, his main partner was Joe Angel. Then Joe left and Dave O'Brien expanded to take all TV innings. Then Dave left, people thought it would be hard to top that crew...then Len Kasper is brought from Milwaukee and he starts off 2002 but by the end of his tenure he is a fan favorite. Now they bring in Rich Waltz and I think he has grown on all of us. He seems to fit the job's shoes well now. I just hope he isn't gone faster than the blink of an eye like it seems so many have been before him. Heck, pretty soon I'll be doing the job if the switching doesn't get a little controlled.

BTW, The Rays crew isn't bad....they just get really annoying when the Rays are playing the Fish. You can feel them green with envy....I don't enjoy envious Mushmouth+Migraine moments.
