June 15, 200719 yr Take this for whatever its worth. Horton was offered a deal in the range of 6 years.
June 15, 200719 yr Author I don't know yet, all I know is that it is credible and its something like a 6-year deal. But take it for what its worth. I could be completely wrong.
June 15, 200719 yr Hopefully a deal gets done soon. We must get him and Weiss locked up. Then Martin can focus on fixing the goaltending situation.

I think Bouwmeester should be a higher priority than Weiss. Weiss is a RFA this year. We can't even start talking with Bouw until July 1st since he is under contract for next year. Get Weiss done now and the goaltending situation and then get Bouw signed.
June 15, 200719 yr BTW: The Hockeysfuture.com Panther's message board sucks. Is there any better ones?

June 17, 200719 yr http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/hockey/...sports-panthers Draft picks will be pivotal in any deal, because they'll likely have to be packaged with a defenseman, of which the Panthers currently have nine. Martin reiterated he's not looking to trade the players most appealing to other teams: Olli Jokinen, Jay Bouwmeester, Nathan Horton, Stephen Weiss and Bryan Allen. "We've identified we're going to build with our core players, the young players," Martin said. Martin is playing it smart I love the idea of horton 6 years, Weiss 4-6 years, Jbou 6 years
