July 25, 200719 yr Hello all I am new to the board and I just wanted to say how great it is to have a message board filled with diehard Marlin fans. I have been reading posts for years on a regular basis but for some reason I never registered. Anyhow, I think when Hanley returns Ross should be the full time starter in RF if the marlins are truly serious about contending for a playoff spot. While I am still hopefull for Hermida to be a good player in this league, he has been pretty bad. I'm not that dissapointed in his offensive production as much as his awful defense. For that reason I dont even think there should be a platoon in RF and I think a full time Cody Ross gives us the best chance to make the playoffs.
July 25, 200719 yr Hermida may be shaky in he's D but taking him outta the lineup totally would be a horrible decision. We can live with a error here and there while he makes it up with his bat.

July 25, 200719 yr Author Makes up for it with his bat??????? Hes hitting 238 while Cody is hitting 290. Cody is also much better with the glove. I understand long term Hermida might be the answer but like I said if we are truly serious about making a run THIS YEAR Cody is the answer.

Ross kills lefties and sucks against righties. He's not an everyday player. Makes up for it with his bat??????? Hes hitting 238>>>>>>>> Took the words right out of my mouth. You need to go ahead and put those words back in your mouth, because they are dumb, dumb words.
July 25, 200719 yr Hermida may be shaky in he's D but taking him outta the lineup totally would be a horrible decision. We can live with a error here and there while he makes it up with his bat. you absolutely, positively, certainly must be joking. i really really really hope you are or that you have never watched a florida marlins baseball adventure before. yeah, that error here and there you speak of usually is a blunder little leaguers, let alone high schoolers, would be embarrased to make. hermida's fielding is so bad that you could argue he is vastly improved from last year because according to my calculations, he has kicked a total of 0 balls this year while in the outfield, down from his total of 36 from last year. now he only drops fly balls, misses balls with his glove, and lets them roll to the wall. i guess he does make up for the numerous unearned runs he allows though. after his "monster" end of june and july, his obp is now up to a whopping .329. it's not that i don't think he will ever improve. it's that the future, presently speaking (like trying to win tonight against livan) is irrelevant. currently, he sucks in the field and is nothing great (or even good) at the plate. cody ross is vastly superior to hermida in the field and has an ops of .958 (.395/.563). i understand that is only in 20+ games, but he's healthy now and should play until he stops hitting, in which case he would probably hit about the same as hermida and still be much better in the field.
July 25, 200719 yr the shiteth hath hit faneth...if you read this board at all...you have to realize that hermida is invunerable on this board...he is the next zeus, king of gods

July 25, 200719 yr Hermida is a bad player, all around, except for his eye, which isn't that amazing in my opinion. We could use Ross in right. He could definitely add some pop to the lineup, and maybe we can give linden some starts too.

If we were a playoff contender, you might have a point. But since our best hope is to play for next year, we need Hermida getting his at bats.

July 25, 200719 yr Huh? We are playing for the future. I don't care if we lose every game from here on out because we aren't going anywhere this year.

July 25, 200719 yr he is the next zeus, king of gods atleast you finally get it i realize that hermy lovers will bash anyone else like jeremy's parents are paying them to do so, yes
July 25, 200719 yr Author Ok you guys are saying we have no shot this year. I know we have played like BS but we are only 6 games out of the wildcard. With the way our SP has been its a miracle we arent 15 out but I believe the SP can vastly improve and we can make a run. If we have no shot this year and you think we should play Hermida everyday because of that why dont we call up Gaby, Aaron, Chris and Brett while we are at. Bottom line is right now Hermida sucks and Cody is better in EVERY way.

COdy kills lefties and is Miguel Olivo against righties. Hermida can hit both lefties and righties reasonably well, and will only improve.
