People, mark it down on your calendars. August 9, 2007. Fredi Gonzalez had an epiphany.

It is indescribably good to see uggla hitting 5th and de aza 2nd. i'm not so sure hermida should be 8th, seems a little low, and olivo, well what can you say. but this is an important day. fredi has taken that very first baby step toward fully utilizing his brain and his ballclub. i'm extremely excited to see this lineup and hopefully it will stay the same for a while.

Job well done Fredi.

lol yeah its retarded. btw, we should do like the Cards and put the pitcher 8th, and put olivo's scrub ass 9th, or even better, sit him for treanor.

This would be my lineup today:

Hanley

De Aza

Cabs

Hammer

Jake

Uggla

Hermida

Olivo

Mitre

I like the lineup, but hate Hermida in the 8 hole.

Not long term, but rather see Hermida there than Olivo..

No. Just... no.

I've always been in favor of putting the pitcher 8th. Can't see why teams don't do it more often. BUT I would want a guy that works the count, gets on base alot, and has speed in the 9 slot. De Aza 9th. Maybe Jeremy 2nd. That potentially puts a speedster on the bases for another speedster with a high BA and power (Hanley). If De Aza does get caught stealing with 2 outs it still leaves Hanley leading off the next inning. Even with less than 2 outs, De Aza causing havoc with the pitcher and defense means better pitches for Hanley to see. And makes opposing pitchers having to pitch to Jeremy in an attempt to avoid a big inning pitching to Miggy. I would also have Uggla batting 5th and Jake 6th.

I like Hermida batting 8th. Atleast there are not two automatic outs at the bottom of the lineup. Atleast if Hermida gets on base he can be bunted over.
