August 17, 200719 yr A popular singer was arrested early Friday morning on sex charges. Raleigh police arrested Matthew Shafer, also known as Uncle Kracker, at the Embassy Suites in Cary at around 4:45 a.m. According to police, a 26-year-old woman approached an off-duty officer at the Ess Lounge, located at 326 W. Davie St. in Raleigh, saying Shafer committed a sex act against her while she was inside the establishment. Authorities said Shafer and the woman were not acquaintances. Police obtained a warrant, charging Shafer with second-degree forcible sex offense. Cary police detained Shafer at the hotel until Raleigh officers arrived to serve the warrant. According to the warrant, Shafer told arresting officers that he would immediately fly back to Michigan to avoid charges. The warrant also states Shafer has "major assets at his disposal" and the court considers him to be an "exceptionally high flight risk." Shafer is being held in the Wake County Jail on $5 million bond. He is scheduled to make his first court appearance at 2 p.m. Friday. Shafer, known for hits like "Follow Me," and "When the Sun Goes Down," his duet with country star Kenny Chensey, was in Raleigh Thursday night appearing at the Downtown Depot Party. http://wral.com/news/local/story/1713772/

August 17, 200719 yr Meh....its a "he said, she said" as of now unless they took her to a Sexual Assault Treatment Center and found signs of forced penetration etc...... Speaking of that, whatever happened with Ramon Castro's case? Did he plead out or lose a boatload in civil court?
