September 14, 200719 yr Yesterday, the Panthers players reported to the Bank Atlantic Center for their physicals and other pre-training camp activities. Today, they arrived in Vail, Colorado where for two days, they will practice and then oh my god a game is on Sunday! And Monday! And Tuesday! Can you feel it? Hockey is oh so close to being back! That reminds me of the Panthers pump-it-up sequence of last year..."Can you feel it comin' in the air tonight..." Yeah, Todd Bertuzzi and Alex Auld both made really big impressions there...for five games. However, this year will be different. Not only are all the players in training camp and healthy, but their isn't a thundercloud hanging over the team anymore. No more questions about Roberto Luongo, no more assertions that no, Steve Moore will not stalk the team until Bertuzzi is out. Just the good ole' hockey game to focus on. Maybe the Panthers won't have to vacation during November this year. I sincerely hope that with the lack of expectations this year (seems to kind of work for the Dolphins...though, you can't expect much from a team with NO IDEA where it wants to go) that the Panthers will surprise everyone and make the playoffs..who knows, it is the first Year of the Rat on the Chinese Calender since 1996, perhaps we shall see more than we thought... All I know is, it feels damn good to have hockey within sight again! www.flpanthers.blogspot.com Hockey is (almost) back, South Florida! :mischief
