September 21, 200719 yr So I've been using Merrill Lynch online for trading purposes, and I find that their trade fees are a bit excessive. My uncle set me up initially (he's an employee) and I just kinda stuck with them assuming their fees were fair (I believe I've been getting 40-50 dollars per trade). I have noticed websites like TD Ameritrade and eTrade offer comparatively low fees, and just wanted to know if anyone had a suggestion as to where I can find more affordable service. My portfolio isn't big enough to warrant such large charges on trades. Thanks!

You can do something like sharebuilder, but you can only buy at certain times which didn't work for me. I stuck with E*Trade. They aren't the cheapest, but their fees are pretty good and they offer a ton of reliability and market research. There's a reason they are still #1 and they've done fine by me.
