In all of the battle scenes, dramatic historical footage and photographs are combined with extraordinarily realistic sound effects to give the film a terrifying, visceral immediacy.

I absolutely can not wait for this. I've seen Civil War (One of the saddest pieces of work I've seen in my life) and Baseball in their entirety which I loved and I expect this to be just as good.

Let me tell you something. I saw baseball after the Black Sox Scandal' date=' when everybody? kind of got off the baseball, see? And here comes Babe Ruth hitting the home runs and that brought it back, see? Then we went into another little recession in baseball, and here comes the lights and that brought it back. See? Now we're going to the war and all the good ballplayers are gone, so that kind of brought it down a little. Now here comes Jackie Robinson, see.[/quote']

That quote seriously gave me chills the first time I heard it to end a chaper in Baseball.

 

I actually didn't get to see the premiere tonight because something came up, but it is recorded and I will be watching it more than likely tomorrow when I get home.

 

I don't know how much any of you are in to classical music, but Burns has selected a bunch of classical music to set the tone for this work. I bought the deluxe edition of the soundtrack blindly today because the selections I recognized are superb along with a lot of good swing and hits from the WW2 era I'd like to own. The soundtrack is nearly worth the money for Yo-Yo Ma and Kurt Masur's (Conducting the New York Philharmonic) Cello Concerto in B Minor. I've never been a huge fan of Masur as I'm simply not a huge fan or the European romanticism period but he is absolutely brilliant in this movement and I can just imagine how well this piece will go with Burns' direction and images.

I interned at Goldcrest Post Production in New York from July until about two weeks ago, and they were doing finishing and audio work on this miniseries. I was able to see some of it and let me tell you, the footage that they uncovered from archives for this production is UNBELIEVABLE. This thing is amazing. Seriously.

 

I was under the impression that it was a 12 part series though. Guess they changed it.

Montages were great.
