Kranitz spent two years as Florida's pitching coach after 22 years of working various jobs for the Cubs. His pitching staff was a pleasant surprise in 2006, but it unraveled in 2007 as Anibal Sanchez, Josh Johnson and Ricky Nolasco all got hurt. October 18, 200719 yr Anibal wasn't abused? Surprised he didn't go to whereever Girardi's going. I kind of assumed that Girardi and Kranitz would be with the Yankees next year. The Yankees will likely outbid us for Mazzone.

October 19, 200719 yr It's a good move if they didn't have Mazzone in the first place I know about the Perlozzo/Mazzone thing but he was still willing to stay with the team and work with that pitching staff..... while some guys such as Cabrera are still wildly inconsistent Bedard has learned an excellent changeup from him and has become one of the premiere pitchers in the league and while Guthrie cooled off at the end you need to consider the fact that he has never thrown that many innings before so I think that was based purely on fatigue. Loewen was going really good at the start of last year until his injury too. He didn't turn the entire staff around, but he made it much better and obviously knew what he was doing. From what you've said about Kranitz (who i know very little about) I don't even want to know how he's going to work upcoming pitchers like Radhames Liz, Garrett Olson, and heck even hayden penn (who will still only be 23) next year if they make the club
