October 24, 200719 yr With the emergence of Maybin. They'll have Ordonez, Sheffield, Maybin and Granderson. If they dont sign Rogers they might want of another lefty pitcher to go with Andrew Miller. With Sean Casey gone and Jeff Larish not close, A Jacobs Olsen Package wouldnt seem that ridiculous if we got another prospect or two back. There be something im missing if i havnt heard any granderson CF talk??
October 24, 200719 yr If the right deal comes along, the Tigers might be willing to part ways for Granderson, but not for Jake and Olsen.
October 24, 200719 yr I'd be willing to bet they keep them both. Granderson played a lot of LF in the minors and even though he plays a fine CF and is established, Maybin projects better than him out there. Maybin did play left when he got called up there so maybe he will stick there and they will just keep Granderson out where he is proven. Could go either way. I'd have to think it would take a lot to get Granderson and Maybin may not be ready for a full season of MLB ball until '09.

October 24, 200719 yr Jacobs and Olsen for Maybin and a prospect or two? I love it, I needed that. Rough day.
October 24, 200719 yr Jacobs and Olsen for Maybin and a prospect or two? I love it, I needed that. Rough day. If you think that's funny, wait till you hear this. This guy in the Marlins Group on Myspace posted this (In a topic about the possibility of A Rod coming to the Marlins, and Yes, he is being serious, the guy hardly knows a thing about baseball): "How about this: We should trade Willis to the Yankees for A-Rod, but keep Cabrera and sign him to a long-tern deal. If we do this, then we could have the on the same team. Cabrera will stay as the third baseman, A-Rod will be in the shortstop position, and Ramirez will move to the centerfield position. Comprende?" I was literally falling out of my seat laughing when i read this.

October 26, 200719 yr Willis for Granderson and Verlander, I believe. Yeah.... Nah, the Detroit stuff involved Beckett, too.
October 26, 200719 yr There was a rumor (lol@Rosenthal...but us public don't exactly have much to go on) of Willis for Verlander and Granderson during the winter prior to 2006. Aswell as Becket/Lowell for the same package the year before.

Aswell as Becket/Lowell for the same package the year before. Well, if it was the winter prior to 2006, that would make it the same offseason as the Beckett and Lowell trade, not a year later. To my knowledge, the only teams that had a "noted" degree of interest were the Rangers and Red Sox, with the Tigers thing trickling out after in much the same way the Delgado Yankee/White Sox three-teamer trickled out after. I believe we could have had Granderson, but I think all things considered the Red Sox trade is a trade you do over and over again if given the choice. Definitely not the deal to second guess from the tear down, well, except for the part of Marlins internally believing Willis' future was brighter than Beckett's.
October 26, 200719 yr Yeah both were during the same winter (Beckett during the winter meetings, Willis later I assume)... my mistake on that part. Ken Rosenthal reporting on both of those. What doesn't make sense is that according to Ken, the Tigers had 0 interest in Beckett/Lowell for Granderson/Verlander with us making that trade offered, but DD offered Granderson/Verlander for Willis. I guess Lowell's contract was a deal breaker on that? Or Rosenthal is just full of sh*t. No surprise there.
October 27, 200719 yr Author Jacobs and Olsen for Maybin and a prospect or two? I love it, I needed that. Rough day. Who said that? Um, you did. A Jacobs Olsen Package wouldnt seem that ridiculous if we got another prospect or two back. I said Granderson, they wouldnt bite for Maybin. Its not like Olsens stock is high right now, Jacobs is dropping as well. After Granderson 30-20-20-20 season his stock is as high as it will ever be. Maybe in hindsight i;d drop jacobs and throw in a prospect. But my point wasnt really a trade proposal as much as if Granderson is a realistic option for the Marlins

We've got two guys whose stocks are low, they've got a guy whose stock is high. Of course they'd want to do that trade. Heck, they'd want it so much, you're right, they'd throw in a prospect or too coming back. Why even ask? Get Beinfest on the line now.
