Cantu and Jose Castillo

Featured Replies

Cantu and Jose Castillo are going to be with the Marlins in 08 pending their physical exam. Cantu was from Tampa Bay and Jose Castillo from Pittsburgh.

Del Castillo said that Cantu signed a minor league deal and that Castillo would be a starter. Castillo will probably play 3b but he's played second, short, and right field.

I'd be almost embarrassed to print Castillo's line in the Venezuelan Winter Leagues - he's en feugo - .364/.387/.568/.965 in 172 at bats. will not go quietly into this still night that's for sure.

Cantu had a good year in AAA (International League) and with Cincy, in other words when he got out of the Tampa Bay system.

(and on a personal note Juan Richardson is having a quality winter, having finished up his Mexican Winter league stint and is now playing in the Dominican Winter league)

I'd like to see who rises to the top under the pressure of making the grade in spring training.

BTW, neither player is linked to the Marlins recently and nothing on any transaction lists for either player.
