April 29, 200818 yr Man if we can shore up the starting rotation, we can definitely be in this till the end. Regardless of whatever happens this season, I hope Beinfest can keep this core together for at least one more season, because Id really like to see what they can do with the additions of Volstad, JJ, Sanchez, etc. We have a team here that can compete for a number of years, and if they were smart about it, it wouldnt cost that much to keep them together from now.

It's too soon to rate the Mets as the worst in the division. Once their pitching starts to gel they will be difficult to beat. The thing to do though is to strike while they are down.

Agreed, seems very unlikely that they will end the year in last. If they hit enough roadbumbs, it might keep them out of the playoffs, but it is too early to tell.
