I t would be nice if we could score more runs via base hits. We cannot always rely on the big HR.

We didn't have anyone on base because they were too busy rounding them!

 

I'm talking in general. Not just this game. We lead the league in the percentage of HR/runs. I thinks like 56% of runs are by HR.

 

I love the HR but I don't want to have to rely on them.

 

Sure, we can tell our guys to pull up and try for bunt singles. Face it, we have 6 power hitters in our normal lineup.

 

You can't hit HR all the every game. We have to be able to manufacture runs.

Cantu's blast made the Top 10 Plays. Good reason, that thing was huge. But we just finished sweeping the Nats and we got barely an after thought on SportsCenter for that. Maybe they are just too embarassed about their Golden Clubs (the ones with the highest payrolls that they always pick to run away with divisions) to bring up the fact we are 7-3 right now and their picks are struggling.

I hate the term 'manufacture runs', I have a news flash for you, a home run makes runs on the spot. We have a team that is good at getting extra bases and not getting out. All the run manufacturing we need is right there. Last seasonwe lost tons of games in which we scored 4+, that is not an offensive consistency problem.
