JetsMania
Tomorrow we are having a chilifest. Here is what I just made: 1 pound of filet mignon 1 pound of lamb 1 pound of pork tenderloin 1 pound of ground buffalo 10 ounces of sausage 2 pounds of chopped tomatoes 1 can of tomatoe paste 1 large onion 1 garlic 1 red pepper 2 cups of water 6 tbps of chili 3 tbps of cummin 2 tbps of sugar 2 tbps of salt 1 tbp of oregano 2 tbps of unsweaten cocoa powder I marinated the meat last night. Today I put it all together. I will let it sit in the fridge over night and tomorrow I will cook it on low for 8 hours. I'll let you know how it turns out. anyone else have any good chili recipes? The_Godfather
Can I make it in my crock pot??
JetsMania
Can I make it in my crock pot?? Ya. That was my original plan, but I made too much tht it wouldnt fit in mine. I have it in a large pot on low right now. I am going to let it cook for several hours. I tasted it this morning and it was very good. I'll give my full report tonight after I taste it when its fully ready.

Admin
That's a hell of a lot of food (and I eat a lot). Either you are expecting to eat nothing but chili for a week or you are making that for a bunch of people.
yankeefan21
Where are the jalapenos and/or habaneros? Adjust to taste? My toilet hurts just thinking about it. I approve.
JetsMania
It came out very very good. I held back a little on the real hot stuff. If I made it too hot, I would be the only one eating it. About 7 of us eat that chili and two other ones. There we three judges. One likes spicy food so he voted mine as the top one. The other two arent a fan of spicy food so they didnt like mine. However if you like chili then you will like my recipe. Next time I will make it in a crock pot and leave it cooking over night.

yankeefan21
I'm just thinking there are some awfully expensive cuts of meat in there for - essentially - a stew! I never really thought about raising my game to that level. Now you have me thinking...

I never really thought about raising my game to that level. Now you have me thinking... Haha ya it did turn out to be quite expensive. I am sure it would have turned out well, even with a slightly lower cut. Try swapping the filet mignon with flank/skirt steak.
