April 7, 200323 yr Some thoughts on MVP voting... Assuming both of these guys play the same position for a contender, who gets your vote for MVP? BA HR RBI Runs TB BOB OBP SLG OPS Player1 .343 32 114 125 335 162 .499 .634 1.133 Player2 .315 20 97 97 279 64 .391 .522 .913
April 7, 200323 yr I would say player 1, but I guess a lot would depend on how valuable those numbers were to his individual team. The only way I vote for player 2 is if player 1 was surrounded by guys with similar totals, but player 2 was the biggest reason his team was even contending at all. later.........
April 7, 200323 yr Author This really isn't a trick question. They were both definately *the* stars on their teams... Just curious how everyone would go.
April 7, 200323 yr Author Okay fine, I'll even tell you... Player1 is Ted Williams and Player2 is Joe Dimaggio. :w00t Does it change your vote?
April 7, 200323 yr Yes it does... Williams gets the advantage... why would this chance your vote? you picked 1 to begin with uy
April 7, 200323 yr I think I will give the MVP to the player that has improved more his team. I would give it to player 1 because of his stats.
April 7, 200323 yr Author That's correct, Das. The year is 1947. Ted Williams wins the Triple Crown, but Dimaggio wins the MVP based on his hitting streak. Kinda sad, actually. But, this is a perfect example of how screwey MVP voting can be. Can you imagine winning the Triple Crown and *STILL* not winning an MVP?!
