And a meaningless and irrelevant one at that. OPS means about as much as wearing shoes in a pool. If you believe in the sabremetric way of baseball, fine. If you believe if your team doesn't hit 50 billion homers, fine. Use the stupid OPS. I'll take real baseball knowledge and real baseball any day.

Lowell hit 32 HR's in 492 AB's. That's exactly like hitting 35 HR's in 550 AB's. Not only that, but Lowell only had 27 doubles, so he was more of a home runs guy. BTW: Palmeiro's OPS is .867 and Lowell's is .881. Big difference. :lol

October 28, 200322 yr ok well i found out why palmerio has a low OPS and its scary. although he had 38 hrs he ONLY had 21 doubles. taht means his power is going down. it was the lowest doubles in his whole career. if he would have had 30 HRs his OPS might have been in the high 700s. now that would suck. HRs helps OPS wayy more than doubles and lowell is more of a doubles guy than HR guy. doubles dont give u that many points in OPS. tahts why i said it really only counts for the BIG power guys that hit 35 + why did u have to make me go through all this. u both are really classless. i feel disrespected. im going to watch the dolphins now peace
