October 28, 200322 yr ok, first of all, OPS is ADDITIVE... it's NOT half and half. it is SLG + OBP. it is totally reflective of total bases. that's why it's used, because it tells you about everything, including walks. OPS is a good stat and it's huge in power hitters who have good on-plate-appearances and can get walks.
October 28, 200322 yr in other words, 1 HR does not equal 1/2 of what it's worth with OPS. i repeat, OPS is NOT the AVERAGE of OBP and SLG, it's the ADDITIVE SUM
October 28, 200322 yr ok, first of all, OPS is ADDITIVE... it's NOT half and half. it is SLG + OBP. I never said it was. That was actually one of my points.
October 28, 200322 yr Palmeiro? this is just too dumb to describe words I"ll give you a few words...hall of fame 500+ home run hitter who hits .300/35/100 every year at least. Too dumb to describe words is beyond an exaggeration. I don't like his age and possible price, but please, this isn't exactly a really dumb idea.
October 28, 200322 yr juanky is arguing against me about OPS when i agree with him because ops doesnt matter for the players like castillo and juan pierre that score runs. i say it do count more toward power hitters. u cant argue agaisnt that. now to rip apart wild card.,,,

October 28, 200322 yr Author this brian griese is stealing all of my attention.. damn!! Same here... :thumbup
October 28, 200322 yr i dont want him ... thank you :thumbup Would you rather have a $6-7 Million Palmeiro, or a $7.5-8 Million Lee? Neither at that price

I have a hard time respecting statistical guesses from a game named pubes....he's getting older and i'm not saying the guy is great anymore, but if he comes cheap, it's not a bad idea at all.
October 28, 200322 yr your to busy to watch the game but you can post? TV is in a different room then the computer I'm using right now.
October 28, 200322 yr i'll just agree that OPS is an all around good stat to tell you the offensive caliber of a player. i'm not knocking TB, that serves the same purpose, but you can't say OPS is meaningless. regardless, there is nothing wrong with a .850 OPS or whatever you guys were arguing about. it's respectable
October 28, 200322 yr its not hard. look at the parks and look at the stats. if u say he can keep it up while playing at pro player. u are on some good stuff and i need to know ur supplier

It is a decent stat. But it is not "The Truth" as some sabremetrics on this board (I'll keep names to myself because everyone knows who they are) would like to argue. As much as Billy Bob thinks OPS owns all, he has never won anything so how much truth can he really be talking.

He would hit .280-.290 at the Pro! More liners and gao shots would drop than at Arlington! You are such a fool. And you never commented on my last Palmeiro/Lowell comparison. Why is that?
October 28, 200322 yr its not hard. look at the parks and look at the stats. if u say he can keep it up while playing at pro player. u are on some good stuff and i need to know ur supplier Oh sorry i forgot, you can only hit home runs in small ball parks when you are unproven and have hit over 500 in your career. Excuse me for smoking that good s***.
