Griese's starting

Griese will start as Miami's QB against Indianapolis

SportsLine.com wire reports

DAVIE, Fla. -- Quarterback Brian Griese will start for the second consecutive week for the Miami Dolphins when they play Indianapolis on Sunday.

Griese made his season debut against San Diego on Monday night, throwing for 192 yards and three touchdowns in Miami's 26-10 win.

"Right now he gives us the best chance to win," coach Dave Wannstedt said Wednesday.

Jay Fiedler, who started Miami's first six games, was listed as questionable because he sprained his knee two weeks ago in the Dolphins' 19-13 overtime loss to New England. Fiedler was in uniform Monday night but was designated the No. 3 quarterback.

Fiedler took some snaps with the first team Wednesday. His knee has improved but is not 100 percent, Wannstedt said.

Griese hurt his right thumb in Monday's game. It was sore Wednesday but is not a concern, the coach said.

finally dave showed some balls and started griese. I am one of fielders biggest supporters out there ask anyone that knows me but its time for a change and maybe griese can help this team in the pass attack. even though im still very skeptical about him after seeing him play in denver :confused but maybe he can prove himself this sunday that he wasnt a fluke that one season in denver.

i'm with you. i'm glad dave is going with the pro-bowl arm this weekend ;)

I had been a supporter of Fiedler in the past, but I just don't think he can get it done. As much as I dislike Griese (The Wolverines are going down this weekend!), we have a better chance of scoring when he's QB...GO FINS!

(The Wolverines are going down this weekend!)

Just like last year right? And when was the last time you guys won legitamitely

Yardstick-for-a-nose is benched.......YES!!!

The drunk can be sober, the yardstick also blocks the view of the field.

cant wait till the real Griese arrives

again, ramp, do you prefer the real fiedler? the won who is 35-17 or something like that?

yea

and im not even a dolphins fan

are you kidding? you're giving a 35-17 record to fee fee?

i'll look up some stats to throw at ya, but if i'm not mistaken, this is the guy who has a QB rating of around 35 in the 4th quarter. not exactly the guy i'd want throwing the ball late in a game.

griese career:

1064/1707 62.3%

11955 yards

74 TDs

53 INTs

84.7 rating

fiedler career:

815/1367 59.6%

9528 yards

56 TDs

52 INTs

78.6 rating

to top it off, this year is the worst of jay's career as he is sporting 6 TDs, 7 INTs, and a 71.8 rating. he has been a very consistent 1:1 TD:INT type of passer. not good at all.

i'm not calling griese the next dan, but this decision is a no-brainer.

Fiedler knows how to win(in the regular season)

thats why he starts, in my book

sorry if you disagree

a 33.5 fourth quarter QB rating means he "knows how to win" games?

perhaps uber defense had some part in that winning record of his, eh?

the fact is, up until last week, every defense had the solution to potentially kill our offense: stack the line, preventing ricky from running, and forcing jay to "throw" the ball.

i, for one, am glad that he's "injured"

plus Griese's a proven winner (see: 1997)

ya fielder does know how to win and he puts his heart into it. But I think its time to try something new and give griese a real test.

Excellent move by the Fins.

This shows that....

A- Dave Wannstedt however small it may be has a brain.

B- The Fins have a shot at 10-6 and making the playoffs. With Fielder the Fins wouldn't do jacksh*t and you know it.

Excellent move, I applaud Wannstedt for benching the worst starting QB in the NFL.
