September 1, 200818 yr What a dumb article. Like were gonna call up kids 2+ years away from the bigs..... please. well im not saying there ready but didnt felix hernandez get called up when he was 18? yeah and look at where he is now, all sorts of arm issues no way we call up Dominguez. HAHA, Here are the people i believe are getting called up Andino, Miller, Maybin, McPherson, Some bullpen arm (maybe Tucker), Rick VandenHurk here is who I would LIKE to see get called up Andino, Miller, Maybin, McPherson, Raynor, Coughlen, Tucker im 99% certain VandenHurk wont be up in September im sure i read he broke something in his hand or something along those lines so he will be shut down i understand andrew miller will be in the bullpen when he comes back, however i would like to see him have a couple of starts towards the end of the month Andrew was at the game Sunday. Wasn't officially on the roster, but he was there. He was even down at the Strike Zone doing the picture thing before the game. That was funny because he looked pretty uncomfortable with the kiddies. But I think he will be a pen arm until we shut down Volstad, and then move to the rotation and we call up Pinto to replace him in the pen. If Pinto is doing well in his "rehab." If not.... In any case, I would bet $$$ Chris gets one more start and then we shut him down for the year.
September 1, 200818 yr Yes, hopefully Olsen pulls a hamstring or some other made-up injury not arm related so he can keep his ERA under 5.00 and Miller takes his spot. Yea. It's probably wiser to keep Chris in the rotation even tho he is coming up on more IPs than he has ever had and risk injury to him so that we can fake an injury to a regular starter, who most likely won't be here next year anyways, just to save his #s for trade value reasons.
September 1, 200818 yr Can someone explain what would happen in this hypothetical scenario: Volstad makes one, maybe two more starts and then we should him down for the year, so andrew miller takes his spot in the rotation. Something miraculous happens and we find ourselves within a couple of games of the division lead with a few to play including the seaon finale at Shea Stadium. In this case would Volstad remain shut down or can he be brought back to pitch in the make-or-break series and then potentially the playoffs? To make it clear I do not think we have any shot at the playoffs now (I will keep watching the games and supporting the team however). Basically I am using Volstad as an example because the situation fits my question well, but in reality I could be discussing any young pitcher on any team.
