The Dismantling of Shea Stadium Has Begun

Featured Replies

If you know your baseball history, then you'd know that the last two major league baseball parks torn down in New York featured a wrecking ball painted to look like a baseball.

By far one of my favorite photos ever.

sort of sad. Shea is so ugly, but its sad to see it go. At least when you are the train now you go by the nice tennis courts and then the nice ballpark.

even though shea was a toilet bowl, i still think it was stadium filled with what was right with baseball in some strange way: how you can see outside from the outfield, and it felt like a throwback to the old days in a way, but then again, i'm a big nostalgia nerd and i think it had a few more years left in it. but citi field looks to be a good stadium, but we'll see, i just hope it's not a distraction park like some of the other newer ones and resemble the new cookie cutters (stadiums that look like oriole park and the such).

Wouldn't it be funny if their were a wrecking ball for Shea that went haywire and destroyed a large part of Citi Field.

Of course that will never happen.
