November 6, 200323 yr Author I totally agree 83gator. Just out of curiosity did you attend or now attend UF? Or like the Gators?
November 6, 200323 yr Author did you see what happened at az fall league? dernell stinson, player for cincy and who was playing in afl, was shot to death in chandler, az. this has to be tough on his afl team as well as the cincy organization and his family. this is terrible. Its a shame. This reminds us all its just a game. Here's a quote from Stenson after his first ML homer: "You've got to take what you can get. You never know how long you're going to be here." August 17th, 2003 Sadly ironic.
November 6, 200323 yr I totally agree 83gator. Just out of curiosity did you attend or now attend UF? Or like the Gators? I'm a Gator alum. BS degree (Math), class of '83 (which may make me the oldest one of this board now that Arnie has stopped posting). I was there in the pre-Spurrier days, specifically the Charlie Pell era. He broke more rules than anybody this side of SMU and still couldn't win a conference championship. If you're going to cheat that much, at least be good at it.

I've heard of Pell, but don't know much about the cheating he did. I'm a 3rd year business and psychology major and it seems the Zook era is just getting underway. Wonder if the ole' ball coach will come begging for his job back after he gets canned?
November 6, 200323 yr Author Last night's game: Jason Stokes started at 1B and went 0-5 with 2K...1BB/20K Josh Willingham DH'd and went 0-2 (3BB, 1K)...13BB/16K Chris Aguila is having a very solid AFL, but so are most of the hitters. Last night he went 3-5 (homer, 4RBI, SB) with OPS at .800 and 13BB/16K in 92ABs. None of our pitchers got in the game.
November 6, 200323 yr Damn like I said when the Fish traded away Adrain.......... I think the Marlins traded away the wrong 1b prospect.
November 6, 200323 yr i remember attending games in the late 80s....(Galen Hall)....galen hall got screwed...but at least we ended up with Spurrier. And I have said from the start to keep Zook. His recruiting alone will keep us in contention for years to come, no matter how good an actual coach he is (ala Mack Brown, Phil Fulmer, Bobby Bowden). Really, the bottom line is having the horses to play for you. The Gators will be good for years to come. And not just because of Leak, Crowder, Caldwell, etc. We will continue to get good recruiting classes.
November 6, 200323 yr Damn like I said when the Fish traded away Adrain.......... I think the Marlins traded away the wrong 1b prospect. if it meant getting Urbina, then I'm happy. We got the WS....what more can you ask for.

November 6, 200323 yr I hope we did't let the wrong 1b go? who cares? say Adrian becomes the greatest player EVER we got a WS out of it, stop complaining
November 6, 200323 yr Author Damn like I said when the Fish traded away Adrain.......... I think the Marlins traded away the wrong 1b prospect. We went with the guy with higer upside and a guy that is considered more of a project. Who knows how it will turn out?

Bigger upside?I disagree but like I said I hope my gut feeling is wrong and Stokes ends up being the better player.
November 7, 200323 yr Adrian Gonzalez was not living up to the hype. He has very little power, and even if he does hit .300 at MLB level, you can get a guy in FA to do that WITH some pop at 1B. It doesn't matter what Adrian Gonzalez does anymore. He could have a career like Mark Grace and add 300 HRs and the trade was still worth it. We got a World Championship by trading him away so no matter what he does in his career, I will always look at that deal as a good trade. I'm a firm believer in the "flags fly forever" philosophy; whatever you have to do to win a championship is worth it. That being said, I think Gonzalez is going to be a flat out bust. I know he's very young but our drafts under Dombrowski were spotty at best, and they were terrible when selecting high school hitters (Jaime Jones, Josh Booty). so u like what wane hizinga did in 1997?? he went all out and got us a chamipion ship but then ripped it apart so we did good in the draft and got beckett and got players for another championship 6 yrs later... i guess we should do it again right??
November 7, 200323 yr Thanks gee...Nice K/IP for Manning, but looks like he's wild. u call 76 in 99 nice??? i thought nice was more or the same as inn pitched. he sucks man

LOL if its like that then why not rebuild again?

I'd rather win, rebuild, win, rebuild, then be "good" but never win it (ala Braves, Giants, Red Sox, A's, Mariners). Hell, the point of MLB baseball is to win the World Series...or so I've heard.
