March 2, 200917 yr Don't know if you guys have seen this article, but a boat went missing with four people on it including two NFL players, Oakland LB Marquis Cooper and FA Corey Smith. The Coast Guard is searching off the gulf coast of FL. http://www.cnn.com/2009/US/03/01/florida.m...ters/index.html
March 2, 200917 yr Author One of them was found holding onto a capsized boat, no word on the others yet. :confused
March 2, 200917 yr seems like they are most likely trapped at sea currently, still need to find out how they lost control from the boat. I'm guessing that if they are not found by nightfall, they will most likely be dead.
March 2, 200917 yr I'm hoping but not expecting them to be alive. It was horribly windy and cold yesterday near Clearwater, I can only imagine how bad it was 30 miles off the coast.
March 2, 200917 yr Author This just goes to show that no one is too manly to wear a life jacket. The story said that the seas were getting rough and they anchored the boat to wait it out, when it capsized. Even if you don't wear a life jacket the whole boat ride, there is absolutely no reason not to put one on if you're expecting trouble.
March 3, 200917 yr Author Just came across the wire that the USCG plans to call off the search at sundown.
March 5, 200917 yr Sad sad news... The one former player they did find, talked today and said that one of the guys took his vest of and gave up. That was the vest they found along with the cooler.. My best guess is they got eatten up by sharks. RIP Cooper and Smith and to the former South Florida player
March 5, 200917 yr Author RIP... I heard that he said two of them did the same thing.. after a few hours said they'd had enough and took off their jackets and floated away. I hope that is not true, but it seems the only explanation. I doubt they were eaten by sharks.
