Free agent Marlins

Featured Replies

Here are the list of free agents for our team:

1 Castillo

2 Fox, Andy

3 Fox, Chad

4 Harris, Lenny

5 Helling, Rick

6 Hollandsworth

7 Levrault, Allen

8 Rodriguez, Ivan

9 Urbina, Ugueth

10 Williams, Gerald

We could trade Redman, re-sign Helling as a starter til Burnett comes back. That would get us some prospects (hitters?). If not Helling, there is always Phelps...

Re-sign either Harris of H-worth for pinch hitting and strengthen bench. But you dont NEED either, depends on cost, of course.

Chad Fox we need to keep. He was very good in our pen, and maybe could keep that going. Again, all about $$.

Same goes for Levrault, could be another quality arm. We need lefty relief though.

Urbina I would love to keep. With Wagner in Philly and Smoltz in Atlanta, we need our closer to nail down the job.

Pudge, I am just as ready to give Castro the job - provided he doesnt go to jail. Pudge is going to cost us, and I think right now he is more about the money than anything else. Goodwill is gone. If that is the case, I dont want him on my roster anyway. He rode us for a ring, and we couldnt have done it without him. Or maybe we could have with Castro.

Andy Fox, Gerald Williams, bye. Enjoy the rings.

I say sign Niether, H'worth or Harris for pinch hitting roles.

A million PLUS bucks is a little to much for a guy that might have 60-70 AB's a season.

Bring up Someone from AAA

I say have Banks to strengthen our bench

he'll demand anywhere from 300,000-350,000 a year and will give you good D, a good gap and good patience hitter at the plate. and he's somewhat experienced

all for about Minimum Salary.

Hollandsworth cost us a bunch to be a pinch hitter/crappy LFer....sign someone else for cheap...keep Banks, find another bat or 2.

I haven't heard Levrault....you sure he isn't a 6-year minor league free agent?

I would keep Harris over Hollandsworth, but they'll both cost a pretty penny. I'm thinking we could get someone cheaper that will be just as good (minor leagues?)

I would like to re-sign Helling and Fox, and trade Redman.

Anyone have the list of the "official" free agents from the Marlins? Meaning the ones that have already filed for free agency.

Does anyone know if this is true?

Because Pudge had a no arbitration clause in his contract, if the Marlins, do not sign him by Nov. 10,then he can not resign with the Marlins, until the end of May.

I'm sure if that were true, we would've heard about it by now.

I've read in a couple places that if he isn't signed by a certain date, that we cannot sign him until May 1. I don't recall the reason(s) behind the dates.
