November 8, 200322 yr I don't know what to say and I don't know which side to take. All I have to say is that 2 years ago I predicted that Pudge was going to be a Marlin. None of my friends believed me and it happened. Almost a year ago I did the same with Guerrero when Montreal was talking about trading Colon and other players. Therefore... I better keep my mouth shut... :shifty I going with eadearmas on this one. I've heard both sides to this Vlad to the Marlins but I'll just leave you with this, the Sun-Sentinel a month or so ago post something on Vlad and the Marlins. According to the piece he's told friends the one team he wanted to play for was the Marlins. Mike Berardino wrote the piece and said also the PA would not allow there top free agent to sign for less than his value but again Vlad appears to be wanting to come down here and even a discount price. Now I've hear this since spring training of last year but with the PA putting so much pressure on him to hold out for the largest contract it would appear hopeless. Just keep this in mind(I'm not saying this is going to happen) the money that the team alloted to try to keep Castillo(6-7 million) and Pudge(11-12 million) has to go somewhere? Right? :shifty ehh, What they said... :shifty
November 8, 200322 yr I would write something here, but I'll restrain from doing so as to not anger the baseball gods. Hopefully Curt Flood will look down on us with favor.

Right? :shifty I wanna ask a question directed to the people that believe we can get Vlad. Would you rather have our current lineup with Encarnacion in Right, Castillo at 2nd, and Pudge at Catcher? Or would you rather have Vlad in Right with two below average players at 2nd and Catcher? I know I'd take the 1st Option, Vlad can only do so much. Our team was successful this year because we had a deep lineup with a different hero every night. Now you want to build it around one guy. That's just not going to work.
November 8, 200322 yr Author Same here.^^^^^^vlad believer;well i guess it's just this list of vlad believers:Me,Juanky,Ramp,Eadearmas,Edcanes.

Right? :shifty pudge 11-12 mill?????? are u nuts? oh and last time marlins had a 'hometown discount" thing or discount w/e, we had CJ for 8 mill a yr with no trade clause and he could become a FA if we didnt get a stadium... yea that was for ''discount' ' none of these discount things ever are true. for any team.. look at griff.. how did u become the insider?
November 8, 200322 yr pudge 11-12 mill?????? are u nuts? That's what he's going to get in the open market.

November 9, 200322 yr Give me Vlad, Castro, and Hooper/Medina/Eric Young over Castillo, Pudge and Enc anyday. IF Castro is not found guilty, I think the Marlins will hold all the cards in the Pudge sweepstakes. He knows that here in Miami he is going to get the best chance to get back to the WS outside of NY Yankees. Why? Pitching. We got it. So, we may get Pudge AND Vlad here. For the Vlad doubters, one thing to watch for is Fred Ferriera. He is not the ONLY reason why Vlad feels comfortable here, but a big reason why. I think the Marlins will get Vlad at a very good price if the Union does not interfere. But that is the problem, isnt it Ramirez? Thome? And stop with this girly BS about forming somekind of Vlad believer ring, so what?

Right? :shifty No, not right. As far as we know, contracts of those amounts of money have not been offered. And as far as we know, only one of our biggest moneymakers (Castillo, Pudge, Lowell) may not even return. As far as we know, we don't really know anything.
November 9, 200322 yr Author So on monday we can sign vlad,i mean the free-agents,we can start talking with them on monday?
November 9, 200322 yr As far as we know, we don't really know anything. Exactly what I'm stressing. Just like we aren't going to win the World Series (said by many people on THIS VERY board during several times, like the Ugy trade, the Conine trade, and others). So yeah, you don't know anything, neither do I. But there is this little thing I like to call HOPE.....
