First came word that Anibal Sanchez, who had to leave the May 7 game against Atlanta after experiencing shoulder pain, was able to throw Friday.

That was a big jump up from the first analysis, which had Sanchez unable to pick up a baseball for at least three to four weeks and out for as long as two months.

Manager Fredi Gonzalez said Sanchez could be throwing from the mound by the end of the current homestand May 24.

Josh Johnson, who was removed from Thursday's game in Milwaukee, said he felt fine and tossed the ball today. He will throw his usual bullpen session Saturday.

so JJ seems fine, Anibal not as bad as we feared, and Miller pitching pain-free.

We were certainly overdue for some good news!

Good stuff. Let's pray for a speedy recovery for Anibal.

Hopefully Miller and Nolasco start rolling so we can have 4 formidable starters in the rotation for awhile until Anibal gets back.

Maybe eventually we will see the Nolasco-JJ-Volstad-Miller-Sanchez rotation performing to a high standard as many of us were hoping/expecting coming into the season.
