June 3, 200917 yr They used the average ranking of 4 different metrics (ESPN, Elias, Inside Edge, and The Baseball Encyclopedia) to find the top 100 players. 15. Josh Johnson (Inside Edge ranked him 5th, with the other three ranking him between 29 and 40.) 70. Hanley Ramirez (ESPN ranked him 35th, with the other three ranking him between 69 and 96.) 96. Kiko Calero Here's the link: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/playerrating?season=2009&page=1 There's a "What is This?" link at the top of that page that explains the metrics.
June 3, 200917 yr The important thing to note is that this is measured as of right now. A-Rod isnt even in the top 100 but is still clearly in the top 10, probably top 5 players in all of baseball. They really do like to create some weird statistical things in baseball dont they? I mean Edwin Jackson the 8th best player in the Majors....
June 3, 200917 yr Doesn't look like this syetem takes a player's position into account, just pure numbers.
