Yep, get yourself a spyware/adaware remover.

use Ad-Aware. thats what i use, its free, and it gets the job done. Plus, for the virus part get Avast. Also free and also awesome!

MalwareBytes is better than Ad-Aware. It least when I started using it. It found things that Ad-Aware didn't find. Maybe Ad-Aware finds those things now.

 

If your just careful what you download you don't need an anti-virus program. I don't use one and periodically use MalwareBytes and it usually only finds a few bad cookies. Your system will run a little faster with out an antivirus program eating system resources. Once every 2 blue moons I get a virus but I'll trade that for a system performance boost.
