99 mph fastball with such movement... Since when can 99 mph have movement? All I saw was great location (up down in and out) all night.

Every pitch moves, at 99mph though, what appears to be straight can actually be tailing, but move so quickly it looks straight. Use MLB's gameday, it tracks movement and such.

Thanks. It's just hard to imagine that anything could have movement when it takes approximately .41 seconds to reach the plate.

I'll look more closely next time. JJ has great control and hits his spots well.

That's not true.

Lindstrom, himself, threw a 97 mph 2 seamer last night to get Cano to ground out to a DP. He seems to be throwing more 2 seamers lately, btw.

I must apologize to JJ. In the beginning of the year I said Ricky Nolasco is oue ace, not JJ. He is proving me wrong big time. I love him. Like Erick said, we need to sign him to a long term contract.

Despite the win, I am still concerned. Jeremy Hermida, after dominating the Blue Jays and cardinals, is 0 for his last 14. His OPS dropped from .805 to .764. He needs to pick it up.

I was saying the same things...Nolasco DID pitch like an ace last year; he IS regaining his form from last year, it seems. I know 3 starts is a small sample, but, specifically, the last 2 have come against tough offenses...especially his last start, where he dominated Boston at Fenway.

Anyways...I also agree with your last little paragraph. The Marlins are like 0 for (30 something) with .RISP over the last 4 games. In the 5 games this week...we've scored 8 runs. That's not even 2 runs per game. Definitely not even close to good enough.

Watching these two pitch in ST it was obvious JJ was the better of the two going into the season. Ricky got the nod for Opening Day, and hence the ace label, because of what he did last year. And maybe Fredi was looking down the road at the matchups after that first series. Remember JJ vs Santana in the following series? Could it possibly be that the coaching staff actually knew who the team's ace was before the season even started? Probably. Opening Day starter dosen't always mean team ace.

ST #'s a lot of times mean little. Just look at Alejandro De Aza.

Anyways, Ricky DID (along with 2 relievers) no hit the Tigers in Spring Training. I'm sure that also had something to do with it.

another gem for JJ. glad the pen didn't blow it!!

boni caught stealing again..that's #5 (with only 12 SB) and he's been picked off like 3-4 times...but you gotta have that speed!!

The pick offs are just a learning experience. The CS numbers you bash so hard is why you can't always just look at the numbers to see what is happening. Off the top of my head I can think of 2 that were caused because the hitter either missed the hit and run sign or swung and missed on one. That's just off the top of my head. Hanley got caught stealing and blew a DP that not only led to a run but also kept that line up moving so the "power" guys would get another shot and knocked JJ out of the game an inning early. Baker definetly blew one throw on a steal and maybe two. The second sail job would have put the runner at 3rd if not for a nice play by Uggla. Chris had an 0-fer with two K's. one looking, and was a defensive replacement fatality. Cantu had an 0-fer with two K's. Jeremy's bat didn't go quiet, it has gone ice cold all at once and he was a defensive replacement fatality.

But whatever.

I would still like to see him batting 9th.

What's the excuse for Bonifacio sucking in every other area of his game?

He's working hard.

And showing steady improvement. But obviously none of you have been "watching" or you would have noticed that he walked in back to back games on the 9th and 10th. Unlike Coghlan who didn't even walk on the 9th.
