As Marlins Wait to Sign Johnson, He's More Likely Gone

Featured Replies

Lets be realistic here .... there's no possible way we'll be able to sign JJ after 2 years if he keeps his current numbers up. This guy is an absolute stud ... a 15-20 game winner with a sub 3 ERA. The front office will do something in the next 2 years to try and get the most value for JJ as opposed to letting him walk after 2 years.

If he signs with Boston, NY, or LA .... he will receive close to a $100 million contract. My guess is about $15 million a year. I'm all for trading him and getting some very reputable prospects in return.

How can you say something like that?

Well...b/c we're Marlins fans, and we've seen such things work in our favor in the past.

I absolutely hate this argument. It's stupid. So the Marlins are around solely to be the farm system of the MLB? We cultivate the talent, and give it away to other teams so that THEY can win?

When do we make a run for it? I hate it when the Marlins as an organization continue to push every year being a "rebuilding" year, and I hate it when the fans settle for, "We'll make a run for it in the future." We should make a run for the WS when we have the talent. Johnson is OUR talent and it wouldn't/shouldn't be okay to trade him for MORE prospects, so that we can continue to push the idea that at some point in the indetermined future we'll be a solid enough team.

By the way, I'm happy you guys all think we'll sign him! :)
