Why?

Why would we want to bunt with one of our best hitters (who is also very bad at bunting) just to set it up for Hermida and Paulino (vs a RHP, a tough one at that)?

To be fair, he was facing K-Rod, and he is one of our worst hitters vs RHP. He also has a 20.5 SO%

Wow, we've been good against RHP as a team. Cody Ross is hitting a respectable .761 OPS off them but is 6th on the team against them. So it's not as if he's weak against them. Hermida is better than him against RHP but then Paulino is no good. So if Hermida hits into an out then you're stuck with Paulino vs K-Rod with 2 outs. If Danny was at 2nd and not 1st I might say bunting was okay, but not in this case.

I wasn't agreeing with him, just stating some facts. Considering Uggla's speed, he might have not scored on a single by Hermida anyway, which would mean we would be stuck with Paulino. It wouldn't have been that bad of a move though.

As an aside, Keith Hernandez mentioned last night that West was tipping his change-up. Did anyone else notice anything different or did Rich or Tommy mention anything?
