Nny
Well, even Hayden Penn and Clay Hensley have been mentioned, but it is a surprise that nobody has mentioned Burke Badenhop as a potential target for starts next year. I don't even remember what on Earth has happened with him, I remember him getting injured but don't remember any news about him since then. Even if healthy he won't have a stone's chance to crack the rotation, but that's as much due to the sheer numbers involved and the more high profile guys competing for 3 spots which could be contested. I could honestly imagine Hopper breaking camp as a 5th starter on a team with a more stable rotation, but there's too many guys in this organization like Vanden Hurk and Miller who are going to have a last chance to prove their worth despite inconsistent work before a guy who at best projects as stable will be given a shot. I agree. I really like Badenhop as a #5 guy. The problem is we have so many guys with high potential (and Badenhop's upside is very low) that it's likely better to put them in the rotation and see if they can figure it out than to have Badenhop there. Personally I wouldn't mind trading somebody though if we can fill another need (at this point though our rotation is probably our biggest need so oh well), and putting Badenhop there. Rabbethan
To be honest I just completely forgot about The Hopper. He's another guy like RVH that has been pretty good out of the pen but struggled as a starter. His OPS against jumps nearly .200 when he sees a batter for the 2nd time in a game. -Miami Fan-
1. Johnson 2. Nolasco 3. Sanchez 4. Volstad 5. West 1-2-3 is pretty much a lock...I think. Sanchez deserves the #3 spot and definite spot in the rotation. 4 and 5 is between Miller, West, and Volstad. I originally thought Volstad would be a lock, but not so much when you think about it. The back end of our rotation is decided in Spring Training. It really wouldn't surprise me to see Miller start the year in New Orleans. I hope he starts in the rotation, but we'll see. I just can't see Volstad not starting the year in the rotation, but you never know. I think West SHOULD start the year in New Orleans, but I don't think it it will happen.
