A roster move made by the Yankees may be something that impacts the Marlins. To make room for Curtis Granderson on Friday, the Yanks designated Randy Winn for assignment. Winn may be on the Marlins' radar to be a candidate to help either off the bench or as a leadoff hitter.

I think that could be a solid move for a lefty off the bench. probably better than mike lamb.

this team is in a real sh*t hole right now.

I wouldn't mind getting Winn in a small 1 year deal but I doubt he stays available for long.

I would love to see Winn in a Marlins uni, but doubt thats the direction the FO would go. He could be a good veteran prescence off the bench.

I'm pretty sure we already have Wes Helms for that.

Helms isn't a switchhitter Winn is, plus with Gload (lefty) last year they formed a potent pinch hitting tandem. Not the same can be said for Barden/Lamb, though I'll give Lamb his due he's hit the ball well late.

Its good to have guys on the bench/bullpen that are veterans and can help a young team.
