September 8, 201016 yr Got me thinking from reading other threads on here: Marlins that can just go after this season(I dont care how - trades, dfa's, left behind on the road, snipe hunt, jimmy hoffa'ed...) Definite MUST GO's: WES HELMS - If Homer Simpson can have a dictionary entry, Wes Helms' should stand for the epitome of being f***ing worthless at the professional level CHRIS VOLSTAD - For a "sinker-baller" Vol-Suck sure does give up a lot of home runs and key hits when he should be shutting down the inning instead...even at his young age, he just doesn't look like anything special. I remember one of his first starts ever against the Dodgers he dominated them for @ 8 innings, guess that was a fluke CHRIS LEROUX - Just don't think he'll ever cut it JORGE SOSA - Need I explain? ----- On the Bubble: LEO NUNEZ - Very hittable for a guy who has filthy movement on his pitches. Maybe he can figure it out. If not and he keeps pitching like he does (where a 2 or 3 run lead is not safe with him), trade him ANDREW MILLER - Control is his problem. If he can cut down the walks, there is something there, but can this team wait for him, or will Miller's options force him to be gone Anyone else with their list(s)?
September 8, 201016 yr You'd rather keep Miller than Volstad? Really? Miller has only shown flashes of potential... Volstad has at least proven to be able to hang as a big league starter. Volstad is essentially guaranteed to get better. Miller, we can just cross our fingers and hope he gets better.

Volstad is essentially guaranteed to get better. Miller, we can just cross our fingers and hope he gets better. Can YOU guarantee this? I don't see him improving... He doesnt use his height to his advantage, too many hitters tee off on him... He has trouble closing out innings after someone gets a hit or a homer off him Isn't Miller out of options soon anyway if he can't stay with the big club?... For what we traded to get him, at least he can be long relief (unless we can trade him) when we have to throw an arm out there and its meaningless... Volstad is just boring to watch and looks like he'll never be more than a 5th starter, we have enough of those and I don't see him as a "pen" guy
September 8, 201016 yr Keep Miller and Volstad use them as trade bait. Leroux is club controlled so I'd keep him.
September 9, 201016 yr Author After tonight, Andrew Miller is a MUST GO... I figured he would get an extra chance since we gave up Cabrera for him, but forget it, he just SUCKS
September 9, 201016 yr miller and helms MUST go. there is no way in hell that helms should be on the 25 man roster next season. and miller needs to go especially since he makes like 2 million that could be used on valuable players. volstad should stay. sometimes he looks good and totally in control on the mound and sometimes he just hurls pitches to get hit over the fence. consistency is key with him. just wish he could put it all together but he's got plenty of time and is under team control. other than sosa, helms, and miller i think we should keep the rest of the team intact. they should add pieces to the bullpen instead of tearing the team apart again. we're gonna have a nice lineup next season with coghlan probably shifting to 3B and i'm confident in our top 3 pitchers (jj, nolasco, and anibal). the bullpen and catching situation needs to be resolved and i think we should be set for a run next season
