Posted October 7, 201014 yr Alright, so, we've all seen the play where Jim Joyce called the runner safe when Armando Galarraga beat him to the bag but Jim Joyce called him safe. Everyone, including Jim Joyce himself afterwards, said he got the call wrong. Now, I may be stirring up something here, but I think maybe, just maybe, Joyce, without knowing it, got the call right. Let me explain. Many times, I looked closely at the replays, and, yes, he touched the bag, yes he beat the runner, and yes he had the ball. But did he have control of the ball as he touched the bag? Watch in the video I link at a little after 1:10. Galarraga gets the ball, touches the bag, and then SHIFTS the ball with his glove deeper into it. I'm not sure if that's exactly controlling the ball here. Go to 1:10 -- at 1:33 it shows it in slow mo. The ball was still moving around after he got off the bag. You make the call. **To the mods, if this gets too out of hand, feel free to close, I just want to give another viewpoint of this. I am in no way against how Joyce reacted after seeing the replays, I felt it was a great showing of sportsmanship, but, just looking at that replay, it got me to questioning whether he really got it wrong.

October 7, 201014 yr He snow coned it, he could of held it like that for an hour. He just dropped it into the cradle after the play was over.
October 7, 201014 yr Author Alright, was just a thought, see if maybe anyone thought the same. Go ahead and close it up.
