Lollygag in CF! Yay!

There's no proof Coghlan can play CF; then again, there's no proof Hanley can do it either. I'd rather keep Hanley at the position where he just might be the most valuable in the game, instead of trying that experiment.

Cashman said he'd consider moving Jeter to CF. Hanley Ramirez is not Derek Jeter. Unlike Jeter, if the Marlins wanted to move Hanley, they wouldn't have that problem of: "We don't want to move him to a corner outfield/infield spot because we like power at those positions." Hanley's a much better hitter than Jeter. If Hanley has to be moved one day, it doesn't necessarily have to be CF.

Lol...

Hanley's hardly a mobile SS. What the hell makes you think he could play CF? I'd definitely rather have CC out there, especially because he is an outfielder. Despite what he might have been, he's played LF for 2 seasons now.

Hanley, on the other hand, is in infielder.

Move Hanley to Center Field.

Solves a lot of problems.

Could you elaborate on this a bit for me? I'm not seeing your vision.

I also think you could have started this thread without the Cashman/Jeter article. I don't think it has any relevance to the Marlins and Hanley. Hanley and Jeter are two different types of shortstops, at different parts of their careers, playing under completely different payroll/management/roster situations.

Hanley has great speed and a solid arm - all the tools to play CF. All he needs is desire and experience to be the NL All Star CF for years to come.

He certainly is miles ahead of Coghlan for potential.

Hanley is, at best, an average shortstop and he is usually not at his best.

If the Marlins want a superior defense, then moving Hanley gives them two legs up with Ozzie to SS.

I think the Marlins are just looking for value at every position, just like every other team. Pretty sure they're absolutely fine with Hanley Ramirez being a top 2 shortstop in the game. Arguably the best, actually.

If they wanted someone with more "tools" in CF and were so worried about defense at the position, they'd probably try Stanton (an actual outfielder) before giving Hanley a shot.
