November 22, 200322 yr ive been taking a little break from the site and the marlins, im all washed up with the WS and all, so can someone fill me in on the possible orioles deal or anyother deals youve heard?
November 22, 200322 yr The marlins are seeking to trade DLee before the tender deadline. The O's interest in Lee surfaced this last summer when the Marlins were interested in Conine the first time (@ July deadline). Lots of names have surfaced, both in the press and on messageboards here and in Baltimore. It's hard to tell what's fact and fiction. The O's GM seemed to imply yesterday that the Fish were looking for pitching. Lots of the speculation begins with a Berardino rumor that has morphed everytime another news outlet picks it up. Here's a list of players I've seen mentioned. Lee for: (some combination of) Brian Roberts (2b) Hairston (2b) Gibbons (1b, RF) Riley (p) Ryan (p) Bigbie (OF) there's even a rumor of Levinski or Bautista coming back I'm sure there were a few others mentioned. Whether its one player or multiple players, only the GMs know. That should get you up to speed.
November 22, 200322 yr I think someone on these boards has mentioned that we should try to involve Gibbons in the deal although nothing in the media has been said about his possible inclsusion. From the looks of it, Castillo will resign with the club (unless somone drastically overpays which i dont see happening in todays market) and the marlins will get a trio of pitchers (Riley and Ryam have been the names mentioned the most) but if castillo is not signed then we will get Brian Roberts as part if the trade.
November 22, 200322 yr O's get rid of Albert Belle from the payroll for 2004. More money means more trades so they can get more big free agents.

November 22, 200322 yr Gibbons hasn't even been discussed in any potential deal. One poster here suggested that we ask for him. The other players have been rumored.
