November 25, 200322 yr Vlad could come here, but it would require Encarnacion and Redman to be dealt. :::waves::: bye to Encarnacion and Redman ::waves::: :::shakes Vlad hand::: for coming to the fish I like juan but i love vlad, and here's one for pudge-sayanora sucker!
November 25, 200322 yr Not a bad idea. were u been this weekend,we were talkin bout it. I was doing BFL/applying for college/out
November 25, 200322 yr I really dont think Pudge will be back. I think he is making a big mistake too - this is a championship team, and will be so for some time. He could not only secure his legacy as a HOF, but as a winnner too. Oh well, guess money is more important. I have tried to deny Vlad coming here. I have tried to be rational about it, but I keep returning to a feeling that he is on his way here - if not already offered a deal. I think in order to do that we do need to deal Lee, Redman, and lose either Castillo or Pudge. All that, it seems, is going to happen. Vlad will allow Cabs to go to LF and Conine to 1B. If we could still sign (Korean) Lee, we could platoon him this year and work him in as the everyday 1B should Stokes not pan out when Conine retires a Marlin. By then, we should have another title... Cape, interesting post about the info-mercial technique to generate revenue. Seems a very shrewd tactic. I don't think Pudge needs to secure anything. He's already a HOF shoo in. He already has a ring. He is in position to get paid, and he would be crazy not to. It's incredibly naive for people to factor in things like "loyalty" and "home town discount" into the equation. He was only here for ONE season, and that was a stop gap for him. He served this team well, but it's time to let go. The other factor you mentioned was this being a championship team. The odds of a small market team doing it twice in a row are extremely long. I don't know when you tried "to deny Vlad coming here". All I ever remember reading in your posts is that he could be, or would be. I don't see it myself, and would much prefer the money be spent on pitching. There is a long way to go in that department. It's not as glamorous as talking about Vlad, but I t hink it's much more important.
November 25, 200322 yr I agree with Keys, Pudge doesn't need to secure a thing. He has been the dominant Catcher of this generation, and his numbers stacks against the best all time catchers on both defense and offense.
November 25, 200322 yr For all of those still fantasizing about Vlad: c/o Los Angeles Times "As General Manager Bill Stoneman explained that Monday's signing of pitcher Kelvim Escobar was only the first accomplishment of the winter, Manager Mike Scioscia confirmed that the Angels are discussing the acquisition of superstar outfielder Vladimir Guer- rero, the best player available in free agency."
