Like I've said, if Vaz keeps pitching like he has since June, re-sign him. Like a cheaper deal with a bonus or two if he hits 2009 Atlanta numbers...like...2 year/10 mil, up to 18 mil if he reaches 200 IP and 185 k's. Might as well offer him something like that...I would. But only if he keeps it up this year...

 

 

You cant put in incentive clauses for K's, can you?

Why not? Unless baseball has rules against you, you can (in theory) contract for anything as long as it would hold up in court, and I can't see why a strikeout-related incentive wouldn't be fine.

The union does not allow actual performance incentives like that. No HR, RBI, K, et al. Only playing time like PA, IP, and awards

Yeh that's what I was thinking Nny. Otherwise if a player got an extra million dollars for reaching 30 HR, and he was on 29 late in the year, he would just be taking massive hacks when the situation maybe required a bunt or whatever.
