November 27, 200322 yr Simon is a good player...Cubs had no need to trade for Lee but they are idots.They gave us a player full of upside for a player the Fish were despret to dump to due his salary. Thank you Cubs Idiotic GM and Thank You Beinfest!!! It didn't hurt that Lee played well against the Cubs, especially in the playoffs. It never fails to amaze me that major league organizations, with all their sophisticated scouting systems are so frequently influenced by a couple of games in the home ballpark. It happens a lot. However, it remains to be seen how good of a deal Choi will be. I believe that report that was posted here was over a year old, and didn't include last seasons evaluation. I'm not sure what all happened but he hit somewhere around his weight. It may take him a while to blossom, and that can be a painful process.
November 27, 200322 yr Here's an e-mail I got after the trade was announce by a scout NOT with the team... "I believe Choi has Carlos Delgado-type talent. He has a very powerful lefty bat. Choi should be able to help the Marlins out in 2004, although he should not be considered a reliable run-producer just yet. I think he will be develop into this. A BIG time power hitter." O by the way Delgado numbers back in 1994-1995 seasons in 80 games, Carlos hit .225 with OBP of .352 with 12HR, 35 RBI's and 31BB/72K's...... AND Choi numbers in 80 games this season hit .218 with OBP .350 with 8HR, 28 RBI's and 31BB/ 71K's WOW how the numbers compare, also to all those Cubs fans. I guess if you guess were in the same position back in 2001 will you have given up on Corey Patterson and trashed him on the way out the door? Remember he was ONLY hitting .206 in 70 games(between two season 00'/01') with an OBP of .245(OUCH!) with only 6HR and 47K's
