December 22, 201114 yr Former Rays bullpen coach Bobby Ramos has taken a job with the Marlins in player development. Ramos will be the Latin American coordinator, working with players in the Dominican Republic and with players on the Marlins minor-league affiliates during the season. Ramos, 56, spent six seasons as the Rays' bullpen coach, coming with manager Joe Maddon from the Angels, but his contract was not renewed after he missed a part of the 2011 season due to illness. Ramos - who said he is fully healthy and feels great now - said he hoped to be offered another job in the Rays organization but when he didn't hear from team officials in the last few weeks he started looked elsewhere and landed the opportunity with the Marlins. "I'm going to miss a lot of the people I worked with,'' Ramos said. "But I had to take care of my family so I put I my resume out there and I was very happy to talk with the Marlins.'' December 23, 201114 yr Bobby Ramos is actually a popular name for those who've played baseball in Miami as kids, etc. (not that I ever did, but my brother did) Yay, I guess.
