May 11, 201412 yr Awesome who did you take it with? O'Shea? I have no clue who O'Shea is. I go to FSU and took it with Professor Shelby, who was awesome and I would get bonus points talking game of thrones with him
May 11, 201412 yr Doh. I always keep thinking you also go to UCF. Nationole Champs > Knight Life. But congrats on being the 2nd best football school in the state.
May 11, 201412 yr Author Sure we can weigh all of that (2nd best football team is a title I will gladly take), but the panhandle is gross. Slightly better than Jacksonville though.

How dare you insult my panhandle!!! Yeah it's not the nicest place. Haven't yet ventured to Panama City but I've heard only bad things. I really do love Tallahassee though, completely different than the areas I grew up in, in South Florida but still feels like home nevertheless.
May 11, 201412 yr Author I'm pretty done with Florida as a whole. I'm excited to be applying to grad school. Not really looking at Florida schools although I'll put UCF as a backup (because I'll probably get in).
August 8, 201412 yr I got straight A's this summer. Woo. Intro Chem, Intro Social Sciences, and Calc 1. One of these is not like the other. Anyways. Go me.

August 8, 201412 yr Why would I post here and reveal information about myself? Oh it's what the cool kids do? Oh ok here we go. Grew up in Broward and went to high school in Davie... then went to UCF for undergrad (Go Knights! Off topic but I got to go to the Fiesta Bowl this year and it was, of course, awesome!) and got my degree in Psych... then went back down to So Fla for 2 years and got my master's degree at FIU in Applied Behavior Analysis, and just recently moved back here to Orlando where I work as a Behavior Analyst (basically work with various kids with autism & developmental disabilities in the Orlando area).
August 8, 201412 yr I am a level entry accountant (1 year of experience) at a CPA firm. What was your first accounting related job? Very curious since that is my major too. How did you get your current job?
August 8, 201412 yr This is my first job as an accountant. I worked in a factory previously. I honestly almost gave up looking for a job in my area. Where I live it is not very easy to find a job as an accountant unless you got connections. Last year I met my boss in a seminary and he gave me the opportunity of a lifetime.
August 8, 201412 yr Also becoming a CPA (you need to pass 4 parts for you to become one) should be priority number 1 for you. That will open you many doors. I will take it again next year if everything goes according to plan.

You are right about how rough it can be. Did you get your current job already having any sort of degree
August 9, 201412 yr I completed my bachelors degree in 2009. My boss is 93 years old and his mind is so clear even at his age. I admire him so much and am very thankful to be working at his firm. During tax season be prepared for very little sleep (this depends where you work).

During tax season be prepared for very little sleep (this depends where you work). Well I just picked up a conditional offer for the county which is great since it is government but my passion has always been numbers, data entries, etc so I'm very informed thank you for that. So you had your b.a. in accounting and still hadn't had an accounting job in 2009?
August 9, 201412 yr Due to the market crash a few years ago it was really hard to get a job. Unemployment levels rose to new highs back then worldwide. I thought about joining the military but decided against it due to personal reasons. I ended up working for the financial department at a factory doing data entry. I was entering invoices most of the time (that's one of the tasks of an accountants as you know). In the current job that I have I do the whole accounting process for the clients that I have (most are corporations).
